Director's work. Must watch for the cinematography, directing, editing, poetry, arts, romance, life and Lee YoungAe and Song Seung Heon's magical chemistry.
While poor reedits on SBS's part make this one somewhat uneven, the core story is also a romance between young lovers who bond partly through their love of painting, and who are separated due to royal machinations.
Lee Young Ae's comeback drama after 14 years. One drama tells the story of the first female royal physician in Korean history, the other about a Korean artist, writer, calligraphist, and poet who is also the mother of a Confucian scholar.
I enjoyed the time slip aspect of both dramas. Saimdang focuses more on that aspect by including more scenes in the present. Don’t let its rating fool you. I really enjoyed it. Both dramas feature a strong female lead fighting for what is right.
