Romantic Island (2008)

1) The reason I watched this:

I have no idea, I just found this film in one of my collections while I had nothing better to do so I just watched it.

2) Storyline/Plot:

This was a multiple stories film, oe of the genres that I like to watch.

Positive points:

*A romatic comedy that had more interesting events than other films from the same genre.
*The three love stories were combined together in a way that would allow the final twist to happen.

Negative points:

*The film's story isn't unique or special. Actually, it was full of cliche and cheesy moments.
*The stories took a boring level at some point.

Story: 6/10

3) Acting/Cast:

*Lee Sun Gyun and Lee Min Ki were probably the main reason I continued watching this film until the end not only because of shallow feelings but their characters seemed more appealing than other characters in this film.
*The acting was a strength point that counts for this drama but I can't say the same about charachter because most of them felt annoying most of the time.

Cast: 6.5/10
Acting: 8/10

4)The ending:

An intresting twist accured near the end which made this film a little special than other romantic comedy films.

The ending: 8.5/10

5) My impression (How did affect me):

*There were a lot of boring moments but I didn't fell asleep so that's a good point.
*I only enjoyed the twist near the end but I will probably forget this film very soon.

My impression: 4.5/10

6) Overall:

*If you like romantic comedies then you may like this if you don't expect much from it.

Overall: 6/10.

any one of these three story lines would have held up on their own just fine, and they probably would have been the better for it. i think the writers chose to combine them in an attempt to over come the 3 rather ordinary and almost cliche plots. problem is they never come together in any meaningful way, and the third really only exists to add drama, drama that never really goes any where or develops, it just sort of sits there, waving at you occasionally. at the end you're left feeling like you watched the extended higlights of 3 movies instead of all of one.


the acting was well done all around and it was well shot. the music went well, usually just blending into the back ground. if you like romance the two younger couples are fun to watch.

I watched this movie mainly because of Lee Min Ki and Eugene. I've shipped them since I watched I Really Really Like You. This movie wasn't anything ground breaking. It was just another feel good rom com. It's not memorable (unless you love the actors like I did.) but it's definitely better than some other rom com Korean movies I've seen. The older couple was really cute and the ending was satisfying. Not to mention Eugene and Lee Min Ki's relationship was hottt ;))

Watch it if you just want to relax and not stress about whatever's going on in your life ^^ The sceneries were beautiful, so that's a plus.

I watched this movie because Lee Min Ki was in it. (Disclaimer: I would watch Lee Min Ki reading a phone book or getting a root canal or pretty much the most boring thing you could think of, so I'm a little biased.)

That said, I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, it's nothing special; it's just your everyday light romance. BUT it's a light romance done really well, and with a twist at the end that somehow manages to be both gimmicky (bad) but also entertaining (good).

The best thing about the drama was the acting and the characters. I cared for all of them and was really invested in how the story turned out for them, even when it did lag at times. Overall I would recommend it if you just want to watch a light romance (I'm not saying romcom because it's really only mildly funny, more cute). It's as good as any good American-made light romance + Lee Min Ki = GOOD!
