My only complaint is currently with myself (and Disney+).

I wish Disney listed it as ongoing. At least where I am however many episodes are up, look like they that's all there is. I thought it was complete and watched the four released episodes in a night and was left so mad at myself, because I wanted more. And now I have to wait until November to see it all play out. ?

Honestly though, it is good. The main female character reminds me of Sim Eun-Seok from Juvenille Justice or Koo Ryeon from Tomorrow, but at an unhinged level. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about how it would be. I hadn't thought much of Park Shin-Hye as an actress. It isn't that I thought she was bad, it just didn't seem like she had a lot of range based on what I'd seen her in. Apparently that was the writing or direction, because she has shown much more range in these first four episodes than I can really recall from most of the dramas I'd seen her in previously.

I can't wait to see where this goes. I do worry a littttle bit that it might try to do too much. Like I see threads for different plots it could follow popping up and like...if it tries to grab all of them I think it will end up more a knot than a braid. Not my best metaphor, but my point still stands.

Side note, I do feel like spider guy should cut her a little slack. I mean, the guy confessed to killing three people. How was she supposed to know that was more of a childhood guilt thing than an actual confession? She's not psychic, she's just a demon sent to torture and kill murderers and there was a guy in front of her telling her he was a murderer.

My Lovely Ryu Sun Jae and Im Sol

I have never written reviews of any kind. I've just read reviews and I swear I'm not those who tell that this is their first review for ppl to read their review. This is actually my first review and yes, I am writing this because its been so long since a kdrama made my heart throb so hard. I experienced all kinds of emotions while watching Lovely Runner. The last time I felt this was like 2 years back or something when I just started watching kdramas like Hwarang, Itaewon Class and Familiar Wife. Recent dramas like King The Land, Doctor Slump was just all copy paste of the same storyline. Have u ever watched masterpiece dramas like Secret (Ji Sung), True Beauty, Kill me Heal me (YESS I'M A JI SUNG FAN). These dramas are examples on how to make a perfect drama. Lovely Runner too adds to this list as it brought me solace during my tough times. I swear I'm still crying right now while writing this as I think about those moments which brought me peace during my exam stress. I finished watching the 16th episode today, 1 hour back and I am swooning with their osts right now. This drama was perfect with perfect visuals and nostalgic osts (N.Flying - Star, Eclipse - You & I, Eclipse - Sudden Shower, Deundeun Man - Super Ultra Man, UMJI (엄지) - May I Love You, Jong Ho – A Day, Jaeyeon (재연) – Monologue, 10 cm - Spring Snow, Minnie - Like a dream). Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Soo were perfect for this drama and they had such amazing names Ryu Sun Jae (sounds ?) and Im Sol (omg its sooooooooo cute). Its my first time seeing Byeon Woo Seok like this. I have seen him in different dramas before like in Record of Youth. Though I never remembered him until I checked through his drama list determined to find out where I've seen him because his face was a common face in different dramas as a support role. Actors like Kim Min Gi, Hwang Min Hyun, Kang Ki Young, N (VIXX) were ppl I knew were bound to success. But I actually never expected Byeon Woo Seok ever in a role like this and he's actually fucking handsome (u gotta watch this one) . Btw talking about Hwang Min Hyun, Byeon Woo Seok resembled Hwang Min Hyun a lot in the drama. At first when I saw Lovely Runner's trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgSynGkuo0k), I almost vomited (not literally) from the cringe scenes where she fangirls him. But then this drama after 2-3 weeks was all over my insta feed. So I thought of giving this a watch, trust me apart from some cringe scenes this drama was the best. I jumped, screamed, cried, laughed. When I just read about Byeon Woo Seok's hard works and struggles for this drama and his comment on his sudden success, I became more proud of him. He was destined for this role.

Interim review

One reviewer advised to watch 6 eps before judging, but that's nearly half of this series. I wouldn't say I'm trigger happy about giving up on a dram, but nearly half before it becomes worth while to watch seems a lot. So far I have watched nearly three eps but my frustration is mounting. I wanted to like it, started watching it with great enthusiasm for Jung Hyuk, but ...
The acting is good. Love Jang Jyuk, and he nearly pulls this off - and I can imagine that he gets better as his character is revealed more. Other actors are fine too.
It's the writing. I am all for suspending disbelief whenever I possibly can, but, really?
First, ML has no affect at all, but is "allowed" to speak one to one with believed family, to humiliate his colleagues and other staff, as well as hospital managers, without repercussions. We know brilliant doctors get massive leeway for bad behaviour, but at this point he's been involved in 3 or 4 procedures and two of them have been fatal. Not a brilliant record - even though he asserts he did nothing wrong, muck will still stick. He seems to fear his father's opinion - unclear yet why this should be so. His father knows he is a liability and has to hide his condition - he's not stupid : he would have made damn sure that his son knew when and how to read a room (ignoring his own feelings, which he is not supposed to have anyway) and use his intellect to meet the needs of patients AND grieving family. There are just too many holes in the way he interacts with everyone, and frankly it makes me sorry - this was an chance to actually explore a mental condition with some subtlety, but it's badly botched at this point.
The writing. The FL is young, naive to the pint of stupidity, a prig, tries to bulldoze logic with her own over-enthusiastic and frankly ignorant assertions, instead of presenting actual evidence. She baldly states the first death was a murder and expects everyone to drop everything, but she never states - "Look I saw it - he was thrown out of the car after it passed me, and then the same car reversed into him at such seed that he was thrown into my windscreen, it's not something I could either mistake or miss - I work with traffic every day and I am trained to observe driver and vehicle behaviour". At no point does she make any kind of case for searching for the unregistered vehicle (itself a reason to search for the owner). There were no cameras nearby, but she never suggests tracing that vehicle by checking cameras elsewhere and following its route. I'm not trained as a Police person, but even I've seen this on other dramas - a cop should know many more. But she just stamps her little foot. OK she's only a traffic patrol officer, but even basic training should give her enough nouse to know that won't convince anyone. This child is thoroughly annoying and comes over like a spoilt teenager who just wants her own way without putting in any real or sensible effort.
And yet in Ep3, the "brilliant" surgeon - who has realised something is hugely UP, because his patient dies under HIS knife, and it clearly can't be his fault (so he finds out - as if by magic - that there's a medication which has been combined with diabetic meds and will result in death). - decides that he and this traffic cop now need to work together. Of course he's arrogant enough to know he can do it on his own - but why bring her onto his team - all she's done so far is prat about. At his point she is anything but an asset to anyone.
Both the leads are deeply unattractive at this stage, and deeply annoying. Not sure I want to spend much more time with them. I may well continue and watch more of this, and it may get better and I might forgive these crimes, but this is pretty heinously weak and perhaps lazy writing and hard for me to swallow.
If I was writing this the ML might be getting FL on board in order to use her as a disposable pawn, but I doubt it. Sadly I think it would improve things a fair bit! Why are so many women written so weakly - don't get me started on his "fiancee" (great actress badly underused here)!

my first review on k dramas, ... it would have been great series if she didnt go for messed up,controlling guy over guy who had looked out for her from the beginning. im at episode 8 and finding it hard to watch, relationship between two leads is like pulling a tooth with tweezers. if this was real life im pretty sure there is a diagnosis for the kind of person like the lead male is.

crazy bitch and her weapon

I just don't like the way they are harassing and forcing DBM to take her(FL) side. If a person does not want to take revenge even after knowing the truth or not knowing the truth, then forcibly harassing him for her(FL) own benefit, trying to take back his forgotten memory, is real torture.

You are causing him an accident so that his memory comes back are you crazy? (even doctors do not instruct/prescribe that kind of stunt) What hypocrisy, you are saying that he will decide himself, I have left him free, but the very next moment you reach to trouble him.

Don't play with the memory of those whose memory is lost, do not know if he goes mad, goes into trauma, or whatever.

I am feeling FL is more a villain than a villain, who can go to any extent for her own benefit. But she is showing as if she sympathizes with Ml. she shares the same pain (bullshit) . she is really a crazy bitch who just to make sure he becomes her weapon is going low to hurt him.

So far I'm getting the vibe of Gu Family Book and Along with the Gods with a twist of modern setting from the drama. Which is quite an interesting combination that sets the drama apart from a lot of past dramas involving gumiho or nine-tailed foxes.

Lee Dongwook as Lee Yeon gave us quite an interesting character that occassionally reminds us to Goblin's Grimreaper, which can be quite endearing to watch. Kim Bum as Lee Rang at first glance so far gave an impression that he'd be an interesting villain.

The drama so far do still give homage to many of Korean mythological creatures besides gumiho while also giving us a hint of mystery. It'll be interesting to see what the plot of Tale of the Nine-tailed will show us next.

One of must watch Kdrama of 2020....Full Highschool Fun

I know drama is still going on and only 4 episodes have been aired, But here are my Views on this....
1. STORY
Story of an average looking girl(in her thoughts) that if she is beautiful on then people will give her attention and
affection is not something new that we haven't seen before in K-dramas but this has a twist. without giving any spoilers It is an amazing joyride with lots of emotions and funny acts and so far I have seen development of every character with humor and struggle emotions at the same time.

2.CAST and ACTING
TBH this is my Fav cast Moon Ga Young, Cha Eun Woo and Park Yoo Na. Acting skills of Moon Ga Young as a teenage girl like this has never seen before, With so much fun and cute scenes makes this drama rewatchable a 100 times.

Overall.
This is one of the must watch drama of 2020 , It has Comedy(90%) Drama, Romance,Fun a wholesome Highschool fun vibe

But still i loved this drama this drama has cute romance between ji seo jun and oh ha rin and cute relationship between her friends
As always there is a second lead cha eun seong who has crush on oh ha rin (as i think, actually i am not sure) sometimes i doubt eun seong will be the one to kill ji seo jun...and sometimes i think..No how can he kill his own friend...aaahhhhhh i don't know

I really like the drama the plot is good and not so common. It's a comedy with teen romance, a fair share of competition and has some serious matters too. The cast is good I like the side characters and I like a lot the Male Lead but the Female Lead it's a big NO for me I think that her acting is really stiff for what this character needs, she's just ruining it for me. Anyhow you should give this drama a try because it's quite good and you will like it. Especially if you like this kind of dramas and if you don't find any problems with the FL like I did then you might love it too ...

Squandered potential

I've always thought the life story of Genghis Khan deserves a good cinematic adaptation, but it always fails to get one. Ask yourself: what is the one thing that Genghis Khan is known for? Yes, conquering more land than any other single ruler in history. And yet every movie adaptation that I've seen would show his origin story and then end before the most interesting part starts: the actual conquests outside of Mongolia. I ventured into this TV show, thinking that maybe this time things will be different, because while it is difficult to fit all these conquests into a movie, it shouldn't be a problem with a TV series, right? Not to mention you have all this space to explore the complexities of characters and really flesh them out.

Well, this show was disappointing in almost every regard. I watched 11 episodes, and within all that time we're still in Mongolia, dealing with local tribes. Why? China had already made a movie about Genghis Khan (called, you guessed it, Genghis Khan) in 1998. It manages to tell the same story within 2 hours and make it more exciting and emotional. Why do we have to spend 11 episodes (or roughly 8 hours) on it?

But you know what? That wouldn't be the problem, if the story was interesting. And there's a lot of potential for that. Such a fragmented and tribal environment must contain a lot of diplomacy, scheming, betrayals, wars, etc. The story of one clan taking over every other clan can be done at the level of The Godfather. With such a controversial figure as Genghis Khan, you can make a show rivaling The Sopranos in terms of character depth. Instead this series isn't even worth mentioning in the same sentence as those masterpieces.

Characters have no complexity whatsoever. I remember Alan Moore making fun of Stan Lee's early characters, saying they would only have one character trait, something like a bad leg. Guess what? There isn't a single character in this show with a bad leg. What I mean by that is they have no traits whatsoever. They're usually characterized by either being good or bad. Sometimes they change from good to bad, or from bad to good. Genghis Khan is especially glorified. In history he was a cruel leader, who nevertheless achieved a lot of great feats. Here he's not cruel at all. In fact, he might just be the most level-headed character. Not any different from any other generic ruler you've seen a thousand times in every other show.

The way the show is filmed is also a huge problem. It honestly looks very cheap, like it was made with very little budget. Perhaps it was. And the continent-spanning adventure of Genghis Khan is really the last story you should skimp out on. But even with little budget, you can make it work. For example, if you don't have good costumes or sets, try to use lighting and shadows to your advantage. Obscure the details you don't want people to see, and show those you do want them to see. Plant the seeds in the minds of the audience, that their imagination will help to grow. This show doesn't do that. Also, there's the right way and the wrong way of filming the steppes. The right way is to take a lot of static and wide shots, showing the expanse of the grassland under the heaven. I've seen beautiful steppes. I've also seen beautiful movies about the steppes (including about Mongolia). This can be done. Well, the wrong way to film the steppes is the way it's done in this show. To summarize my thoughts on how this show looks: it resembles a LARP filmed in a back yard or at a golf club, thus completely failing to recreate the feel of the setting.

If I had to describe this show with one word, it would be: boring. Unlike the issues I had with Queen Dugu, which was annoying to watch, this show doesn't really generate much of any emotion. Which is the lesser of two evils, as far as I'm concerned. But I really can find no compelling reason to keep watching it. Such a shame, because this series clearly had a lot of potential.

The music was great though! It's a shame it's wasted on such a mediocre show. If anyone knows where I can get the soundtrack, please DM me.

Characters that Break Stereotypes

Besides what's already been said, I'd like to center this review on the characters themselves.

I hated My Weatherman and My Beautiful Man, and I've seen some comments comparing Takara No Vidro with these bls. Maybe it's because, on the surface, the relationship seems like a one-sided crush between a kind airhead and a stoic cool guy. But this can't be further from the truth in this case.

Takara is a relatable guy who isn't cold but instead straightforwardly speaks his mind. I thought he'd fall into the bully popular guy trope. But Takara is kind and isn't afraid to smile, laugh, and tell Taishin exactly what's on his mind. Credit to the actor because his subtle eye movement shows exactly what he's feeling.

Taishin is also a game-changer in that he speaks his mind right away and owns up to his feelings. This is refreshing considering that a frustrating pattern in BLs to keep the "suspense" going is to wait until the last second for MLs to communicate their true emotions. I just wish we could've seen more of his past and things that make him more personable.

This is an overall well-put-together bl. Takara and Taishin have worthwhile chemistry, great acting, and a comforting atmosphere.
