Man to ????

Good cast but really came for Park Sung-woong who I adore but sad to say, even he could not save this drama for me.
This is the first time I have given up watching a Korean drama at episode 4. I know the FL has received a lot of flack (not my cup of tea either, I must admit), but the script in my opinion fell flat on what the drama was really about. It was disjointed.
Had they made it an action drama, I think it would really have come out an 8.5 in my book. The two action scenes leading up to episode 4 were great and Park Hae-Jin really really excelled. However, ‘comedy’ was constantly thrown into the stir fry pan and for me the script became over cooked.

The other reviewers have said it all so I will make it short.
My best moments were the action scenes and watching the trailer.

Unrealistic and a complete waste of time

I basically had to create an account because I wanted to pen down my thoughts. I’ve been seeing Hello sharpshooter everywhere so I had great expectations for it; especially because I just finished watching miss crow and mr lizard. It was such a total disappointment!

Honestly Hui Yuitan is such an handsome actor but I’ve never completed any of his dramas because his characters always feels plain, forced and unrealistic. It’s basically like trying to make sense out of nonsense. He’s always so stiff, bony and bland. I’ve never liked any of his characters and this drama was no different. A love so beautiful might have been manageable but not go go squid.

I pick up the drama and the ml suddenly isn’t focused on his game at the appearance of the fl…next thing the girl is affecting him mentally, I’m told he can’t remember his past, and suddenly he’s liking her. All in the space of five episodes and the drama is 40 episodes long! Do the writer think it’s kids that are watching the show. I was very pissed because I had downloaded 20 episodes and didn’t want to waste my data so I kept pushing through but felt stupid the more I went forward. The foundation of their relationship is totally unrealistic as everything seems rushed but slow at the same time. You’ll have to watch it to understand my point of view. I get they’re trying to portray him as someone without much social life but I’ve seen better from other dramas.

The fl character too is just annoying. Well maybe they had a past and she’s still attracted to him after all these while but they didn’t have to make her character dumb, always staring at him and acting awkward. There’s zero chemistry for me and right from the start I knew the drama was a big no. I don’t know what the doctor is trying to heal in the fl and next scene the ml suddenly agrees to move in with her. What’s shocking more is how he basically went from dislike in the first episode to interested in the next and I’m telling you the change was so basic and blahhhh

My review probably seems all over the place but that’s literally how the drama is. Wasting time from the beginning and it’s going to 40 episodes come on!

What exactly were you people watching and praising that I’m not seeing? Reminds me of once we get married another rubbish drama but I’ll review that one separately.

Pls refrain from hyping rubbish and deceiving people to watching it. Be honest with yourself because some of your reviews can go a long way. I can’t imagine having a bad day and coming to watch this drama… my anger would be so justified.
Xin fei has done better dramas than this so I know she’s a great actress so I can’t blame her character but she could have chosen better.

If you’re looking for dramas with good plots and cool relationship foundations, consider put your head on my shoulder, perfect and casual, falling into your smile, unforgettable love, love is sweet, you’re my glory and a lot others

But if you want to doubt your sanity and want an anyhow plot with zero flow, then you can watch this drama. But note you must have a lot of time on your hand.

No hate intended just frustration…

An awesome and worth watching drama

I'm writing this review while watching the drama, that is to say that I haven't completed it yet. I think I'm gonna give it a try (writing it in this way), so that it becomes more detailed (don't worry it's definitely gonna be spoiler free) and my most accurate thought about it.
As you must've read the sypnosis already, lets skip that part and jump directly into the must watch reasons of the drama without giving a second thought :

1. The FL and ML really breaks the stereotype :

• She doesn't have bangs and a short hair, well that was more than enough for me to catch attention.
• She isn't the poor academic student (well that's really rare, isn't it ?).
• Infact she's a normal student, nor so good and so bad either ( The perfect balance ).
• ML isn't the topper of the class nor is he any celebrity kinda student. ( FL is shown as a famous student instead, but in a normal way no hype and all ).
• He isn't cold and talks with everyone, unlike other dramas where the ML is portrayed like some god or legend, hard to reach and all.

Will Update As I Watch More Episodes

This is my try in giving each section of Our Skyy 2 a review. Writing it after each part is done, mostly because my long term memory isn't that good. Ratings for previous part might change as I watch more parts.

1. Never Let Me Go (8.5 star)
I have to say that the transition from a bodyguard/boss story into a fantasy-themed one with reverse reincarnation is shocking! Maybe because they only have 2 episodes or about 100 minutes to make up the rule of the fantasy, give explanations on how it could happens, and not to mention the actual story in the past itself, the overall plot seems to be full of holes to me and lots of questions that left unanswered. But considering this is a special and the fact that I have bias for BL series, I'll just try to enjoy the overall theme and story without thinking much about the plot holes.

I could enjoy the historical theme more, if they explain or give rough descriptions on what time period they were reverse reincarnated to. Love the role reversal where Palm becomes the lord while Nueng is the servant and how the power dynamic is shifted according to their new roles. Love the moments where they talk about their plans for the future and when they have differing opinions, they can talk it out (although I think you would need to talk more than that especially discussing important matters like that). Also loves it that both Palm and Nueng shows they have each their own good and bad quality but they still stick to each other despite of that.

Side couples come as a surprise to me! Even though they only have a few minutes of screentime, apparently I was too invested in their story. I unexpectedly shed some tears when in the current era, Phum (Petch) and Kan (Kla) are boyfriends too. It feels like they got what they deserves, even when they couldn't be together in the past era.

2. Star in My Mind (7.5 star)
I know it will be full of lovey-dovey moments from the trailers and maybe that's why I was surprised when it delivers some really good lines about healthy relationship and trusts. Watch out for the little surprise at the end, they can make you suddenly feel warm and fuzzy inside! Overall, a good mini-series to binge-watch when you need mood booster

Side couples are there, although not as much as in NLMG (and not much interaction either!!!) Happy that Typhoon is implied to be able to move on but still being friends with Dao.

Let me start by saying that I loved the actors and actresses in this show. However, this show was all over the place. It had so much potential, and the storyline could have been a masterpiece. The acting was over the top. The chemistry seemed forceful, and there was no base for the "head over heel" love they tried but failed to portray. At some point, they began to drag out the lines, and everything became more outlandish than before. People are giving this a high rating because of the actor, but not even him could escape the doom that was the writing of this show. I wanted to love this show, but alas I am left with food poisoning because it is one plate of bad leftover taco. I am so disappointed that I will have to watch 3 episodes of Drake and Josh to give me joy.

I had mixed feelings after watching the first three episodes of this Korean drama series. I had high expectations based on the plot summary, hoping for a thrilling storyline like "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" or "Flower of Evil." However, the show took a different direction that didn't match my initial expectations.

One thing that made me uncomfortable was how the series portrayed child romance, which felt inappropriate and disturbing. This aspect detracted from the overall viewing experience and raised ethical concerns, which might not sit well with many viewers.

However, it's important to remember that everyone's perspective is subjective, and the series may resonate differently with others. While it didn't meet my expectations, "Family: The Unbreakable Bond" might have unique elements that appeal to a different audience.

In conclusion, my initial excitement for the series was not met due to deviations from my expectations and the uncomfortable portrayal of child romance. However, I understand that opinions on TV series can vary, and the show might have redeeming qualities that I haven't explored further. Ultimately, it's up to individual viewers to decide if the series aligns with their preferences and values.

If you are on the fence, just do it!

KBL is known for its good stories but frustrating execution. This one is actually has a lot of potential.

Cinematography is good, transitions are made well, alright acting- not a bad recipe for a good BL romance.

High School heart throb growing into workplace love story. Both characters are not that complex and easy to read. You are given all the spoilers right there. If you are looking for simple and romantic story- this is it. You will enjoy it. I strangly did and looking forward finishing this on a good note.

The plot melts rather fast!

I seriously fail to understand why an established actor like Ji Chang Wook took up a drama like this which fails to fall in either Fantasy, Romantic, Time travel or Sci - Fi genre. It is more like a scientific experiment gone wrong...
I really liked many of Ji Chang Wook's previous dramas like Healer, Empress Ki and even The K2. After a seriously okayish Suspicious Partner in 2017, He returned with this dud in 2019. There were so many hopes pinned on this drama by his fans which was touted as his comeback after military stint of 2 years.
Ji Chang Wook looks disinterested and has a dead pan expression throughout in most of the scenes and the chemistry between the leads is visible only in the later episodes.
Rewatch value? This drama doesn't even have 'watch it once' value.
Do yourself a favour and please skip this one!

First episode was not okay.

i haven't watched all of it,, only up to the first episode, but i had to drop it because when 'Type' was drunk, 'Tharn' was kissing him, while 'Type' was drunk, and i was like nope, how am i going to watch this when the main character is molesting the other main character? Also, the character here very mean, VERY mean, lie you did not have to go that far with ripping posters up because you hate your gay roommate.they equally weren't doing the right things. But it gets better in terms of the relationship, but the story escalate.

Takes the novel and elevates it beautifully

I read the novel this show was based on, and while parts of it were beautiful the detached writing style, and the introduction of certain storylines later in the novel, made it difficult to connect with some of the characters (particularly the younger generations). The show's decision to tell the story in a non-linear way--introducing us to Sunja and her grandson and their particular challenges at the same time, and weaving back and forth between them--seems to be a good one. While Solomon's storyline is always going to feel lower-stakes than Sunja's, I feel a connection with him I never did in the novel.

Two episodes in all of the performances are top-notch (including Lee Min-ho's, which I know people had been nervous about) and the cinematography is great. The intro credits -- the music, the way the characters are dancing together-- is nothing short of astonishing.

I look forward to seeing how the rest of the show unfolds.

Dropped/On Hold Because I'm Bored...

Decided to watch this series as it can been compared to The Untamed and been regarded as China's second best option for BL content after The Untamed. The series started off strong. It was interesting. However, it is not a BL at all though. More like a Bromance. Unfortunately, it became slow, overlong and dull. So after watching Episode 10, I decided to drop it or at least put it on hold. Maybe, I'll revisit in the future; maybe not. We'll see...

Instead of an overarching storyline like The Untamed, this series opts for like a "monster/mystery of the week" format. A new case for each episode similar to Western shows like Supernatural. Not a big fan of this format to be honest as I find it to be dull and aimless, like a distraction from the plot. Yes, there is an overarching plotline with the purple hair dude and the Black-Cloaked Envoy, but it takes a backseat to the "monsters."

I do like Old Chu and Little Guo's relationship though. I'm always a big fan of opposite-attract relationships.

Props to China for giving big-budgets to these high-concept, epic fantasy BL novels! The Untamed and now, Guardian! Even Thailand doesn't have a BL on the production level of The Untamed or Guardian, though I wished they did! Also, props to China for having these innovative BL stories unlike Thailand which is practically all like university setting (though there are some high-concept Thai BL's coming in the near future).

Review of Philippine Television Series "High Street" (2024)

"High Street" serves as an engaging and dramatic sequel to the hit series "Senior High," propelling the narrative forward by five years and diving into the complex lives of the Northford High School alumni. The plot intricately weaves together elements of suspense, personal trauma, and unexpected twists, ensuring that viewers remain captivated throughout.

Plot and Characters

The series kicks off with a dramatic twist—William, who had been in a coma for years, suddenly regains consciousness. This event sets off a chain of reactions, particularly impacting Sky, now a multimedia reporter haunted by William's dark past. Sky’s journey from exposing William’s atrocities to facing personal and professional challenges creates a compelling storyline.

Sky's determination and resilience are tested as she navigates a labyrinth of threats, including being sabotaged by hackers and dealing with internal conflicts within her team. Her encounter with Wesley and Nikki, initially seen as allies but later revealed as antagonists, adds depth to the plot. The introduction of Tori as the mastermind behind the hacking adds another layer of intrigue, making the audience question motives and alliances.

Themes and Execution

"High Street" delves into themes of betrayal, justice, and the struggle for truth in the face of adversity. Sky’s character embodies the fight against corruption and manipulation, symbolizing the broader societal battles. The show also explores the impact of technology and cybercrime, a timely topic that resonates with contemporary audiences.

The series does an excellent job of balancing suspense with character development. Sky's relationships, particularly with her half-sister Z and her interactions with her friends, are portrayed with emotional depth, making her a relatable protagonist. The subplot involving Tania and Tori adds a parallel narrative that enriches the main storyline.

Pacing and Direction

The pacing of "High Street" is commendable, maintaining a steady flow of suspense and drama. Each episode leaves viewers with cliffhangers, compelling them to keep watching. The direction is sharp, with well-executed scenes that highlight the tension and urgency of Sky’s situation. The engagement party scene, where the hacker first strikes, is particularly well-crafted, setting the tone for the ensuing chaos.

Performances

The cast delivers strong performances, with Sky's character standing out as the emotional anchor of the series. Her portrayal of a determined yet vulnerable reporter is both convincing and inspiring. The antagonists, particularly Wesley, Nikki, and Tori, bring a palpable sense of menace to the screen, enhancing the overall tension.

Conclusion

"High Street" successfully builds on the foundation laid by "Senior High," offering a thrilling continuation of the story that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. With its intricate plot, well-developed characters, and timely themes, the series is a must-watch for fans of drama and suspense. The blend of personal and professional struggles, combined with the ever-present threat of cyber manipulation, makes "High Street" a relevant and gripping addition to Philippine television.

So just finished watching episode 2 of The Tuxedo... I'm actually anticipating remaining episodes, the series is actually cute in a way

Ive always lovrd Chap (Nuwee) he is soooo gorgeous and tall and cute, i actually like his behavior in the two episodes i hve watch, tge jerky but cocky attitude, his face actually fit it. He is isn't too rude like most be are saying maybe he gets really rude in episode 3 and 4 but right now he's normal

One tging that is really amusing to me that i had to rewatch three times is the ACCIDENTAL KISS... I mean how did it happen? The way Thailand bl series always have tgeir accidental kiss is always so funny and dramatic ????but either way it was a cute kiss

U guys should try it out, it actually cool

EPISODE 1-3

I started watching this series accidentally after seeing quite a lot of shorts on youtube. The premis for the show was very refreshing - one built of sex buddies, which is not portrayed a lot in the BL industry. Perhaps the closest representation was Pure from 'My gear and your gown' but the execution up until to episode 3 was extremely poor.

STORY
- As stated before the story had so much promise to be extremly good if only it was exectuted properly. From the very first episode there were too many characters intoduced at one time, therefore i had to rewatch the episode just to undertand and put the characters names to faces. Additionally, there was not enough of a solid foundation for me to have an understanding of where the plot was heading instead they filled it with sex scenes which didnt help at all and felt so random

ACTING/CAST
- I found it extremely hard to even believe that both sher and fah were friends with benefits, sometimes it felt almost comical seeing that they had absolutely no sexual chemistry. I undertand that they might be rookie actors but the desire and lust they were supposed to be feeling for each other was non existent. Plus, i dont understand how they could be 'friends with benefits' when the only emotion you can see them feel towards eachother most of the time is anger, added with the fact that they only ever get together when they are both drunk out of their minds. Perhaps i lack the understanding of what friends with benefits means but this isnt it.
- With how badly the sexual chemistry is between them, combined with the volume of sex scenes the director put into just one episode alone, i would have just prefered if it was hinted that they slept together. It was awkward to watch for me personally, and so i ended up skipping all the intimate scenes. Possibly the only part which i liked was the cuddling scene.
- One thing i cannot understand is Fah's facination with Sher - there is zero reason why he likes Sher so much if we are setting aside the supposed sexual chemistry. Both Fah and Sher to me didnt even have the tension that couples would need. For example Kinn and Porshe, In and Wang just to name 2 couples. Therefore if the sexual chemistry is lacking and basic chemistry is lacking, whats the point of this couple?

These are my thoughts up until epsidoe 3 as i cannot physically bring myself to continue with this series, once it has eneded and if it seems to have improved i might give it another go.
