Nothing out of the box here and the story brings nothing new to the world of romantic comedies.

But with that said, this drama was very nice to watch, it has a cute story, both leads have a bond since they were young but they don’t know it and by fate they meet up again years later and end up working together.
The female lead works as an aspiring writer for a radio show and the male lead works as a famous cold and arrogant actor. He also has insomnia and barely has a good night sleep or sleeps at all, even tho he takes medication to sleep.

Funny things start to unravel between the two as they start to work together, him starting to learn how to be less cold and inside of his own shell and she grows into a good and confident writer, while both start to have feelings for each other.
Later on, they discover and remember things from the past and the feelings between them get deeper.
There are so many heart warming moments in this show that its really nice to see.
Both the male and female leads have great chemistry and they are so cute together you cant help but like them and enjoy this drama.
The side characters are also entertaining so it helps to keep the drama balanced and not everything is about the melomelo of the romantic part.

You have to watch this at least once in your life, if you believe in fate and how meeting someone can actually change your life for the best.
You will end up with a filled and warm heart after watching this :)

I AM BLOWN THE FUCK AWAY

Oh. My. God. Whatta beginning, hoo whee! That slap???? I was clutching my PEARLS. I have never been so surprised watching pretty much anything, the moment it happened I was RIVETED. And also so firmly on my anger muffin's side because bro fr?? You put in all that effort just to squander it? You deserve to be hit again (and hit again he was :D). Whooo I feel exhilarated, it's wild. I will sob and mourn this series like my nonexistent first born child if it goes downhill from here because this is absolutely the gold standard for how to start a sequel, holy shit.

Aaaand, I'm done. This was a masterpiece, good from beginning to end. No time was wasted, even though I have some gripes with the side couples. The music was phenomenal, the ACTING jfc, I'm not recovering from the first few episodes anytime soon. Conflicts were handled understandably quickly considering its a six episode series. Speaking of the length, I really don't know if I want this to be longer. It deserves more time-- it deserves all the time-- but it utilized what it had very well and added absolutely no unnecessary bullshit, which I appreciate more than having a lot of episodes.

The side couple (specifically the mental illness bros one) irked me a bit because I liked their story and how it was handled (mostly), but I also never felt invested in it. I liked both characters as well, but with only 3 hours to see Anger Muffin and Shi De, I was almost counting each second their story took from the main couple. I didn't need their story, even if I liked it, so it was irksome.

All that said, this has my heart. I liked this more than the prequel, and I really, really liked the prequel. Shi De's acting in episodes one and two really cannot be overstated-- any compliment would be too little. Same for Shu Yi honestly. This is worth a watch, an immediate rewatch, and then several more rewatches without a ton of time in between, which I say as a human who doesn't rewatch things ever, really.

Ok bye, I'm gonna go rewatch the first two eps. Maybe the third too.

This is definitely worth the watch.

I love how healthy the relationships are portrayed in this BL, which is saying something because it's not often that gay couples are portrayed as healthy. Unlike most BLs where physical intimacy between gay couples are the primary focus, that wasn't needed here. The intimacy between Solo & Gui and Phu & Kao were enough for me. It was soft and actually portrayed genuine romantic emotions between the characters. The acting was so well done in those scenes that I forgot the actors were new.

My favorite scene between Solo and Gui was when Gui couldn't sleep while staying in Solo's apartment and after Solo had woken up because Gui wasn't in bed, he casually laid on his couch with his head in Gui's lap. It was such a simple action, but that's something you do when you just want to be close to someone.

For Phu and Kao, my favorite scene is when they are spending time together and using Kao's red earbuds to listen to music. Phu just looks over at Kao and reaches over to gently brush Kao's bangs from his eyes before resting his hand on Kao's cheek. The way Kao looks at him afterwards made me swoon and my heart flutter because I want someone to look at me like that one day. Again, it was a simple action, but it was the perfect amount of intimacy.

I highly recommend watching this and I'm definitely going to have my friend watch it since she had to experience me ranting about it as I watching each episode in our discord chat.

really great thiller… do not miss it!

It is very sad story (heard its based on a true story - that is even more scarier). It shows the world we are living where injustice can go unpanished. I cannot imagine the trauma those kids must went through and the worst is that so many people known about it but done nothing!

The drama was very engaging with realistic ending. To be honest I was hoping for different ending.

If you enjoyed Mouse you will really like this drama.
The acting was very good, I specially liked Seok Jin & Aun Jin. The OST was really great.

good drama

Since this is season 1 it’s actually good but the main character is so selfish and it makes me so mad, she didn’t value her boyfriend nor his love which made me hate her sm. I enjoyed the first few episodes since the main couple leads had good chemistry also note that in season 1 the main leads are kim so hyun, song Kang and jung ga ram. The drama was a bit touching ngl so I did enjoy my time watching it. It is recommended to watch it if you enjoy school romance dramas but don’t watch if you’re the type that can’t stand unfairness, selfishness and basically some bad personality traits in characters.

Another addition to the "Could have been, but isn't" list

i have just completed this show and oh man!! where do i start. The story had a great premise and initially the execution was also brilliant.i have not skipped a single scene for almost 25 episodes and for me personally that's almost a milestone particularly when it comes to c-dramas. this was probablyh the third show after BEGIN AGAIN and ONCE WE GET MARRIED to achieve such feat. Then just like many other shows it just took a nose dive and by the time the show ended it crashed and burnt so hard that you almost feel the showmakers wanted the audience to hate themselves for putting in so much time of their lives.
So the story is about a spiritual creature THE PHONEIX that lives beyond the three realms namely heaven, demon and mortal. our FL wei zhi is from a noble family who after some unfortunate incidents had to live as a maid for WEI family.when the daughters of the wei family are asked to join the immortal bones cermony( or something i dont rremember the name properly) the maid is also asked to join them because she is also of the same age and when a group of 18members are presented near the mirror the phoneix awakens and all these 18 students are selected for training. In comes our ML yan yue who is an immortal being from the heavenly realm and god of the sun with a mission to find the real phoneix among the 18 students.he joins the academy as an instructor and a great love story unfolds.

PROS: i think the story is really fresh and one of the best fantasy fiction i have seen though the makers faltered in its execution.the VFX were really great from start to end.the OST was also great, the FL sang some of them and her voice is very soothing and brings out emotion of the scene very well.2ML acting was superb

CONS: the biggest CON was the ending.they just rushed through it and you end up scrathing your head over what has happened.they could have removed some unnecessary slow paced flashback(both leads previous lives) and given themselves some room in the end to make it an meaningful finish. I saw in iQIYI that the show is also known as HUORANG which is basically magical flower in the show, but they neither gave a backstory to huorang nor a decent explanation of what happened to it in the end.Second biggest con would be the casting,i would never hire the casting director ever again whoever he is. None of the leads were suitable for their roles, nor did the cast live up to thier roles.even the support cast failed to impress me.the main leads looked beautiful but personally didnt feel their chemistry appealing at all. funnily you will love the main lead acting when he is possessed by his evil father and becomes evil. The FL was never able to bring out any emotions properly for a role as powerful as the phoneix, she was literally the title actress but was always a damsel in distress preceded by an intense scene. The BGM was also not upto par when there are some intense scenes like when the FL first reveals herself to be the phoneix the bgm is just plain flat and almost brings down the whole energy of the scene.

All in all this was a show that could have been one of the greatest shows from china, but was brought down by its inconsistent pace of screenplay.its almost like they started the show with around 45 episodes in mind but were suddenly asked to bring it down to 36episodes. This show is watchable once for its freshness and a new concept, but never recommend to rewatch it not even once.

HELP! I CAN'T MOVE ON!

Trust me, this drama is PERFECT and worth to watch~

This is the first time I've found a drama with a perfect package.
Not only a light storyline, beautiful and handsome actors/actresses, but this drama also brings many unforgettable memories where viewers can feel sadness, happiness, the warmth of love, friendship, family, loyalty, passion, respect, sincerity and trust in each other. This drama contains sweetness and cuteness that definitely makes your stomach feel butterfly, lots of funny scenes, and most importantly NOT cringe at all.

Huft, I really wish there would be a season 2.
Hope this helps ^^

A 'My Own Private Idaho' without a road trip

The plot of this film places us on the island of Taiwan, where a story is told through Chengxi Yuan (Joseph Huang), a 13-year-old student. He tells us how his father, Zheng Yuan (Spark Chen), who died 95 days earlier after battling cancer, had been having a homosexual relationship with the young actor and theater director Ah Jie (Roy Chiu), thus deceiving his mother San Lian (Ying-Xuan Hsieh), who is now angry because her husband had put his life insurance in the name of his lover, thus depriving the minor of financial benefit.
It is from then on that San Lian will demand the insurance money from Ah Jie, an attitude that will not please his son at all, who, being not only in mourning, but also trapped in the middle of a complicated legal battle between the two adults , she will run away from home and go live in the home of her father's lover so as not to see her, causing the displeasure of both her mother and the man in whose arms her father dies.
The rebellious teenager knew that his father was gay, but had no idea who he had left his mother for. Now he is drawn to the man's fickle nature and his relationship with his father. This event will force the mother to reevaluate her relationship with both of them.
While San Liam blames Ah Jie for not only taking her ex-husband's life insurance money but also ruining her marriage, in therapy and fed up with a mother he considers money-hungry and indifferent, Chengxi Yuan begins to spend more time with Jie in an effort to find out who the "bad guy" is in this situation.
In the young boy's eyes, his mother becomes "Liu San Lian 2.0", as Chengxi Yuan tells his therapist. Angry, demanding, authoritarian, and prone to drama, the teenager can no longer stand his mother's tricks (including throwing away his father's cards), prompting him to seek out Ah Jie, even if it is to threaten to jump from her. balcony.
During the course of the film, we will see flashbacks of the relationship between Ah Jie and Zheng Yuan, who was forced to marry a woman in order to be "normal", since we must not forget that homosexuality in Taiwan continues to be seen as taboo and indecorous, as occurs in other Asian countries, such as Japan, South Korea and Thailand, despite same-sex marriage being legal since 2019, the year after the film was released, which makes it 'Dear Ex' is even more timely, revolutionary and innovative.
We will also know what has happened to the insurance money, for which San Lian will be willing to do anything just to get it (and in part also Chengsi Yuan, since she needs it so that her mother can send her to study in California and thus lose her. of sight). In all of these, Jie has the same intentions, since he is bankrupt after putting his savings into making his lover's last days more bearable, as well as his professional work in the theater.
We will also learn the reason why Saint Liam is a loud and authoritarian mother and ex-wife. The subsequent scenes will show us how much pain he had to endure throughout his life. The actress does a good job of conveying emotions and feelings.
On the surface, Ah Jie is presented as a typical "husband thief" and is called a "fag" by San Lian on more than one occasion. For her part, she is seen as a bitter, authoritarian woman and a despised mother. But when we get to the end of the movie, their roles in Cheng Yuan's life become more focused, as does Chengxi Yuan's role in this triangle.
The doodles drawn by Chengxi Yuan that animate the screen add to the understanding of the story, obscuring and enhancing the live action images below. However, the film's campy qualities should not be taken as fatuous. It is a remarkably moving and compelling painting.
In this way, between the present narrated by Chengxi Yuan and the visions of the past, we will learn the true story of this love relationship, especially the period in which the lover becomes Zheng Yuan's caretaker as cancer devours his body. .
This complex, moving and timely Taiwanese story of pain, intolerance and family infighting, in its narrative arc about a journey of discovery for its three protagonists, in a society where LGBTQ rights are not as advanced as in North America and Europe, It reminds me of 'My Own Private Idaho', without the road trip.
'Dear Ex' feels like a coming-of-age film for its three leads, even though Ah Jie and San Lian are in their thirties. It's not that the trio of main characters end up as friends, drinking soju in a bar, but they all come to understand that they contributed to Cheng Yuan's life and why things happened the way they narrated. There are some leaps of faith in the film's editing, and much of it seems to be disguised by the teenager's voiceover.
This is the first feature film by Mag Hsu, a theater writer and director (she could not resist capturing it in images in the film), whose television scripts have been nominated for various awards throughout Asia. Among his most popular works are 'Mars', 'Silence' and 'In Time with You'. The film in question is co-directed by filmmaker Chih-Yen Hsu, known for being one of the most popular music video directors in Taiwan.
It is not a perfect film. Its Achilles heel lies in the fact that some viewers may find the pace of the film slow at various points, which can cause the plot to become diluted in some aspects. Additionally, the morals of 'Dear Ex' may be difficult for some people to understand.
Against it could also be that the film visually resembles a soap opera, and this is because the directors have extensive experience in television.
Still, it is worth noting that it is an important film made with love from the perspective of narration and interpretation. The splendid direction, photography, editing and editing allows this story to be shaped and guides the viewer in a masterful way.
As the film progresses, the story fractures, traveling back and forth in time as the three characters struggle to reach a point of reconciliation. The stereotypes of San Lian as a manipulative shrew and Jie as an opportunistic rogue fade away, leaving only the tenderness and sense of betrayal they both still feel toward the man they loved. Roles change, as do the characters' feelings for each other.
At times, the film threatens to descend into melodrama, but the attentive directors always knew how to right the course, balancing oversaturated flashbacks with a nuanced portrait of love that withstands both tests and time.
'Dear Ex' offers an interesting look at family relationships, with a bold narrative and bold direction. The film is full of well-developed characters and situations that force us to rethink the idea of family in modern society.
From the comedy-drama, romance, homosexuality and theater genre, the viewer can see that it is not a very simple plot, showing us the social reality of Taiwan, to which is added a homosexual love relationship that is, possibly, one of the most beautiful , although also dramatic, that has never been made into a film.
All this, of course, had its recognition, since the film, after its premiere at the Far East Film Festival, held in the city of Udine, Italy, won the awards for Best Film Narrative, Best Leading Actor (Roy Chiu) , Best Leading Actress (Ying-Xuan Hsieh) and the Press Award at the 20th Taipei Film Awards, to which were added the victories of Best Leading Actress (Ying-Xuan Hsieh), Best Original Sound and Best Edited Film at the 55th Golden Horse Awards (along with five other nominations including Best Picture and Best Director). It also won the best director award at the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival.
If I had to summarize, I would say that 'Dear Ex' is an insightful look at the ways people process grief under difficult circumstances. It takes a few moments to explain the film's central problems, just as the story unfolds in a matter of minutes, while the filmmakers largely let their tight script and exceptional performers convey the characters' complex emotions and motivations. brilliantly.
But the film is more about the people than their problems. And the three characters who star in the film are imperfect and partial human beings, but each one contains emphatically sympathetic and credible traits.

One of the best dramas I've ever seen It was a story about a dangerous psychopath married to an intelligent police officer, implying that there would be a clash between the two, a bit like cat and mouse, being even more intense because they had a young daughter together, but in the end it was a romance between the two. Heesung suddenly went from a psychopath to a normal and passionate man, and Jiwon from a strong and determined woman to a passionate sufferer, who forgot everything her husband did. Until the last moment I was rooting for him to be pretending and using her, but no, they wasted their potential. However, Heesung before the change, his relationship with his father, the couple against the real Heesung and him as the villain was incredible. Furthermore, Eunha is a beautiful and perfect little baby.

Can't fault this show

If you are looking for a thriller drama that is a complete package then look no further than The Good Detective.

This was a show that was recommended to me and it is rare that I like someone's else recommendation and it is also not often that I rate a show a 10. Every episode makes you want to keep going and watching what will happen next. Although a thriller, it also has mystery as well as a wonderful comedy element that will genuinely make you laugh. It also has unexpected twists which is rare to find if you are a fan of crime dramas. The show is fast paced which I love.

If you are wondering about romance, then there is a hint of it but no real romance as such since the story is very much focused on solving the crime and finding the real culprit. Any romance would have been out of place. However, you find a really nice brotherhood and male bonding as well as female bonding. The entire cast did a wonderful job and suited their roles perfectly with some grey characters in the mix.

Since season 2 is starting, I definitely recommend adding this to your watch list and binge watch it. I have high hopes season 2 will be equally engrossing and loved.

One of the Lowest Scoring BL Ever!!!

I don't want to be cynical, but this series was mess from start to finish, and to be honest one of the worst last three episodes, in various aspects - production, writing, and story. Acting of actors was somewhat appreciate-able, but none of the actors were manage to capture my attention.

It is not about happy ending, all the troops shown, some got happy some were open and some sad, but the truth is, all of the endings were unsatisfied, as there was nothing much to look forward to.

Decide on your own, but don't waste your time, if you are in even after 1 episode, because there is really nothing in rest of the episodes.

A tale of memories and letting go

See You In My 19th Life is a beautiful tale about how one can freeze in time metaphorically and psychologically. There are times in our lives when we can be so deeply hurt by others that we choose to punish ourselves in a circular manner without realizing that we have become the source of our pain. The show’s message of ‘letting go and living on’, through the lives of the characters makes it a heartwarming tale of love, memories, trauma and healing.

The show reverberates the message of healing your inner child, healing yourself from your past trauma’s in each of the characters’ stories. Coming to the characters, the chemistry was good between the leads while the supporting cast had their own hold. The first half of the drama was enticing, however the second half got a bit loose towards the climax/final episode.

Nevertheless, See You In My 19th Life is a mesmerizing kdrama that effortlessly blends romance, fantasy, and heartfelt emotions.

My Rating : 7.5/10
