The story was really touching, although it wasn't the most impressionable of plots. But it is interesting enough, and I can guarantee you will not be bored. The show starts off light-hearted, but of course, that does not continue for long. A qualm I have with the show is that it is lacking a little in the character development, particularly the main villian's obsession with the lead girl and his motivations. But I suppose this IS a 2 hour long movie, and the development of the main characters and their relationships should be the focal point of the show.
And, kudos to the actors! They have really carried the story along well, and I was really impressed with the acting here, especially that of Song Joong Ki. His role as a werewolf is, if anything, unique. Nevertheless, he pulled it off really well :)
The music was okay, but then again, when I watch shows, I don't really notice the OST unless it is REALLY good. I don't remember much about the music, but I guess the music served its role well and was appropriate.
I have recently rewatched this again, and I am not one for rewatching shows, so I would rate the rewatch value of this highly. Although I have forgotten most of the story, I distinctly remember the heart-rending sorrow I felt come the end of the show, and how I have sobbed and sobbed my heart out.
If what you want is a good cry and catharsis, look no further! If you are not looking to end up as a teary mess, then I suggest you give this show a miss. But, by all means, go ahead and give this a try! :)
This is different from most korean shows I have seen so far in that apart from its sentimentality and tragic elements, I find that it has a backbone. What I mean is that while this show definitely aims to cater to the audience and provide them the fluff and catharsis they desire, it also gets you thinking, even if it's just a little. Watch for yourself, and perhaps you will see what I mean. :)
