Separate Lives at Hyosim's

Main leads carry this show
Insanely outdated story with an outdated film style and Im watching solely for Uee and Hajoon as every other character is INSANELY annoying.Award for most annoying character and actress has to be given to Hyo Sim’s mother whos entire personality is 1) to care for his sons 2) spend money that isnt hers senselessly 3) be phenomenally dramatic and emotional
Cannot believe this drama was given the thumbs up for 50 episodes
Only watch this drama if you enjoy Uee and Hajoon’s acting and need background noise

Simple but raw
If you’re looking for a drama that has a complicated, unique, different, new, plot then I fear this may not be for you. The premise of the drama is very simple but it has a lot of underlying tones that makes it so much more enjoyable. The cast is able to bring out raw emotions when they’re required, especially Jung Somin and Jung Haein. One can say its similar to QOT in a sense that its a drama thats carried by the flawless amazing acting of the leads.
Its a simple drama but also shows the complicated human emotions. It is rom-com but also melo, as each episodes contain a mixture of both, if you only see the romcom part and hate the drama for the melo, thats a you problem.
Its very enjoyable to watch a drama be so realistic and relatable just through the conveyance of emotion

Insanely thrilling
The overall buildup is amazing and had me on edge of my seat! Story was great and they made an amazing mixture of supernatural, folklore, shamanism. The use of subtle horror rather than giving a physical face in some scenes was amazing and gave more thrill and suspense.
Each actor/actress pulled of their role perfectly - as expected of a star studded lineup!
The movie sets the tone perfectly ; despite having some scenes where it drops, but overall, a very good and enjoyable watch.
Side note: Lee Dohyun and Kim Goeun are so attractive in this film <3

Truly one that lives up to its hype!!
Rewatched for the second time - and somehow the feelings I had when I watched for the first time intensified while rewatching that it felt like I was watching for the first time.Exceptional drama with an amazingly built storyline for the squad of 5. From the very start to the end, not a single moment was wasted.
Zhang Lurang and Su Zaizai’s chemistry is so unmatched -truly a ‘she fell first but he fell harder’ moment. She was the light in his dim world.
Aside from the main couple, even the second couple had phenomenal chemistry with quite the realistic yearning. Their friendship was enemies to lovers but they both fell in love in the process through acts of service.
This drama portrays the different love languages through multiple characters and does so seamlessly.
Amazing scripts and phenomenal cinematography - it truly deserves to be one of the top 2023 chinese dramas.
One of the most beautiful ending I’ve seen and I couldn’t picture it any otherway, especially with how beautiful the script was for the last episode.

Sweet, heartwrenching story
Went in knowing it was a sad movie but wow I did not expect it to be such a tearjerker. The story is unbelievably portrayed phenomenally, and whilst it isn’t complex, it really plays with your emotions. The cinematography and ost added a lot to the movie and made it even emotional.
Ren Nagase and Natsuki Deguchi played their roles so well that I can heavily feel the emotions they portrayed.
While there is a lot to be wanted from their story, I think the movie did a fantastic job as is. They were each other’s hero’s.
There is more focus on their emotions rather than the typical visual romance and I really love that.
I definitely have more appreciation for flowers as sentimental gifts - especially for gerberas after watching this movie.
The ending is one of my favorite aspects and favorite side character.

wasted potential
The drama had an amazingly strong start but loses its plot midway and gets insanely dramatic for no reason. The only enjoyable aspect is the strong chemistry between Moon Sangmin and Jeong Jongseo as their romance was main thing that was consistent in the drama and even took half of the drama.
The plot had A LOT of potential and it showed with the first few episodes but then it just becomes an enemies to lovers for MSM and JJS with the actual plot being a side story.
My biggest gripe is the fact that the story revolves around creating a marriage contract to hide that Dohan was gay, but it barely gets touched upon. Its almost as if they were scared to mention the word “gay” as the only mentions of it is seen once. He has zero story aside from being gay. Everything surrounding the sexuality is insanely subtle - which is the typical mainstream treatment. Every aspect of the gay story is so EMPTY and has no concrete story its frustrating.
Last few episodes were so hard to push through as it just gets more and more frustrating - which is hilarious to say because its a 12 episode drama.
All characters are poorly built and the lack of depth is wild to me.
The actors and actress nailed their parts and the acting was amazing! Too bad for the lacklustre writing.
They tried to add in every possible awful scenario just to finish the drama.
Truly wasted potential.

Heartwrenching but just enough
Wonderland takes a fresh approach on Ai and shows how different people can react to the same thing differently.I can see why people would have wanted Wonderland as a drama instead of a movie but I feel the movie just justice to the story it wants to portray.
Although the story was great, what I really enjoyed was Suzy and Bogum’s acting - specifically Bogum’s eye acting.
Bai Li and Taeju were both characters that deeply affected their user - Bai Li’s mom and daughter, Jeong-in. Although they had positive impact, it also distorted reality. Bai Li, being unaware of the real Bai Li’s passing gave false hope to her daughter which in turn hurt the mother to see and Taeju gave Jeongin a different version, one that she liked but isn’t quite like the real Taeju.
The Wonderland service provided comfort but also had negative impacts - which was the case for the grandmother who kept giving her grandson things that she was never able to provide before.
Its a nice movie, I just wished I can see Bogum and Suzy in a different project; preferably a drama.

Wasted potential
A lot better than season 2 but its so insanely underwhelming. It feels like all the creativity was poured into season 1. Season 2 gave the need for wanting more and I was really hoping season 3 would seal the drama knowing its the finale…but nothing.
So much characters were introduced on season 2 and season 3 continues from there but even after season 2 I was still not caring for the new side characters because they contributed nothing to the plot nor did they have well developed attributes that season 1 cast had.
Season 3 being the finale made me question the production team’s end goal because quite frankly I don’t see the vision they had in mind. Half the episodes felt like absolute fillers with the most interesting scenes being from Eunyu’s Sweet Home moment with Eunhyeok.
Season 3 gave screentimes to the main characters that didn’t receive it in season 2 but the story is really just not there.
So many scientific terms were born but never explained and the ending just feels HEAVILY underwhelming.
Cast and cgi ate tho.

Slow but consistent
For an action drama, its on the slow side but thats also what makes it different imo - its slow but builds up nicely. The pacing is definitely refreshing as the story slowly unfolds. The implementation of superpowers is on the subtle but visually interesting side as it isn’t utilized for the entire drama while also being present where its needed.
One of the aspects I really enjoyed is the consistent unfolding of the main plot and how each cases and characters are connected to each other and the clear resolves.
I did find some superpower scenes to be hilarious (even when its not supposed to be) but it isn’t a negative part
Overall a solid drama! Ending was done nicely

Good Light Romance drama
The story isn’t too unique but the chemistry between youngdae and sungkyung is amazing. It portrays the celebrity lifestyle fantastically- even the many twist with no endings.
Side characters are built up great and there are characters who don’t have a definite ending but it also adds lot to their character - not everything has a beginning and end.
To be quite honest; the chemistry between youngdae and sungkyung became the main reason I enjoyed it and its extremely satisfying to see that last few episodes were just them enjoying their romance.

Horrible Writing
Had so much potential at the beginning but so so so much flaws.Female lead is obsessed with one side character for 90% of the drama and makes herself sad on purpose.
Side characters have the most awful writing I have ever seen in any drama. I could write so much but I’ll digress.
The characters have HORRIBLE emotional development, its supposed to coming of age story from highschool to college and adulthood but the characters have the emotional intelligence of a highschooler all throughout the 36 episodes; MOST SPECIFICALLY FEMALE LEAD.
This whole drama is about miscommunication and misunderstanding that never gets resolved and its just forgotten.
The only well made character is the second male lead - quite frankly the only reason I was motivated to complete this drama.

Supernatural but mundane
The plot was there but also very lacking. In a way certain aspects made sense, especially Sol-Hui’s attraction to Do Ha - which was not because she COULDNT hear his lies, but rather he did not lie often. It had the potential for a thriller/mystery story , which it sort of went with the latter part of the drama but the supernatural ability was used for a mundane lifestyle ; which I find does fit the title “Lovely Liar”. However, it is more on a romance/drama than mystery which I still enjoyed.
Slightly boring and slow but still entertaining.
Would have liked it more if they didn’t make the gay character into a villain but I digress.

Actioned packed but not much story
With the first season being fantastic, season 2 had a expectations and for the most part, it was’t reached.Highly enjoyed the actions and the fight scenes, but other than that, there really isn’t much.
The addition of a new counter is was EXTREMELY useless imo, he was essentially a comedic relief and another gps ; which is funny considering hana and mun already had abilities that detected evil spirits, and his overall story was very lacking. His character added nothing to the story.
A lot of plot holes were evident with the juseok’s character and generally the latter half of the drama involving juseok and mr hwang, and I feel like they just took importants parts from the webtoon (although I did not read) and expected it to just work - which it clearly didnt because they even said in the drama that they don’t know why juseok was so powerful.
I did enjoy the ending containing Mun going abroad to teach other counters and generally liked the ending.
Giving somewhat of a high mark because I love how its the same cast, and JBG remaining as a main lead - he is so fine haha
Season 2 is definitely lacking in every aspect but if you solely enjoy action ; its enjoyable.

Cliche
The plot itself is very cliche but I watched solely because I found the leads nice to watch but last 2-4 episodes were very frustrating to watch. The game company x artist was a nice plot to watch but with the female character being insanely stupid when it came to romance was annoying to see; one mention of a name and all logic goes out the window.
The female support character was the only consistent character but even her part is very lacklustre.
The male lead, while gorgeous, lacks heavily in the emotion department. Even with kisses, it reminded me of kdrama kisses when one person has their eyes open lol.
Late introduction of an antagonist was insanely annoying when said antagonist disrupted the storyline with minimal effort.
Side note: what irks me with this drama is how 2 female characters are written as “I dont care about anything else but I like you and I dont care about your opinion”

Enjoyable
The suspense and thrill is very enjoyable but story wise its senseless killing imo. Very few smart and witty deaths but there are far too many idiotic civillians, and majority of the “smart” students became mafia. The plot twist at the end revealing that it was all just a game created by grieving parents whose child were bullied to death from a rumour the students created does answer some questions story wise but it just feels incomplete. The integration of se eun’s story in a mafia game is just her parents wanting revenge and justice for their child but what is the point when the students dont learn any of this and no reflection of morals is done? Its just a cycle of inflicting psychological pain over and over again, except yunseo now has her memories.
