Asian Dramas and Movies for Weekend watch

It's your typical rich guy poor girl korean light and fluffy romance setup but not completely cliched. It's definitely a must watch for all kdrama lovers.

A korean odyssey is a unique concept and story. Although it's very enjoyable, it is a pure fantasy based drama with a side of romance and is recommended for fans of this genre.

This drama is a mix of soul satisfying revenge and fluffy romance. The leads are definitely worth watching.

Bride of the Century is a mocktail of fated romance, twisted games, and a little bit of fantasy. There is also some historical scenario to it to add a little spice to the story.

This one is for pure kdrama fans only. If you like sensible and unique stories, boys over flowers is not for you. It is an adaption of the Manga Hana Yori Dango and is full of Kdrama cliches starting from the 'rich man poor woman' arc to the ultimate 'amnesia' arc.

Chief Kim is simple, pure and  unadultrated comedy. Nam Goong Min is amazing as the lead and all characters are unique in their own rights. The story is refreshing and it is perfect for binge watching on a weekend.

City Hunter from the first episode itself is very action packed. The reason I watched this was because of the ML but ended up liking it due to the FL (who is a bodyguard and has fight sequences which I loved). The story is good but it has too many twists which makes it a bit exhausting to watch.

Personally for me DOTS is a perfect drama. It has the right blend of action, comedy, romance and thrill that just works. The actors were amazing and the character & story development was done well. The visuals were amazing but one of the major highlights was the ost which was beautifully incorporated in the drama.

Doctor Stranger has comedy, action, romance and a lot of twists and is one of Lee Jong Suk's best dramas. His acting is amazing. The plot of the drama is unique and interesting. The inter-relationship between different characters is fun to watch and very well executed by the cast.

Dream High was one of the early dramas I watched. Its quiet cliched in it's premise with the group of people trying to achieve their dreams, disapproving parents, love triangle, semi-evil rival of the FL, etc. The most interesting part of this drama was probably the end of the love triangle where fortunately the 2nd ML gets the girl.

Extraordinary You was like its name, quite an extraordinary series. The premise of the drama was interesting and despite the fact that many were comparing it to W, both the dramas are very different. Although it was established that everything happened inside a webtoon, the real world was never shown. This series kept me on my toes with the suspense and the twists. And even though the ending was not very satisfactory, the acting, visuals and the ost were amazing.

Falling for Innocence took me by surprise. I hadn't seen the main leads in any of the dramas that I've watched before and was amazed by their performances especially Jung Kyung Ho. The story itself is not particularly unique but it was still well written and executed. The romance was good but the comedy was better.

I was skeptical about watching My Father is Strange for 2 reasons. First, this drama has 50+ episode of almost 50 mins. each and second, before this I hadn't watched any family dramas korean or otherwise since there are way too many characters and various storylines. Now after watching this I can say that I have watched this series multiple times and I like every single character and their different storylines. All the characters are well portrayed and their individual development was good. The family dynamics and the different stuggles of different people shown was very relatable.

About is love is one of those dramas where the side characters are more interesting than the MLs. Although the main storyline was not bad, the side stories were better. Even the character development of the side characters was more than that of MLs. I loved the art related aspects of the show.

I watched Go Ho's Starry night during my web drama binge phase. There is nothing very unique about this drama but the story flows smoothly without dragging or getting boring. It's a reverse harem genre which has gotten popular recently. Some points seemed kinda irrelevant to the story but all in all it was a good watch.

Goblin was the first fantasy drama I watched and let me tell you that very few dramas can match up to it. Every aspect from the acting, casting to the story was great. The visuals were beautiful and the ost was so amazing that I have all the songs and they still give me chills.

Healer has got 2 of my most favoured stars Ji Chang Wook, who is very well suited for action, romance and comedy dramas and Park Min Young, who is very versatile and can easily fit in any genre. Other than the great acting, this drama has a decades old mystery mixed in giving it an edge and some good sountracks  for support.  

High Society was an interesting drama because of the clashing stories of the 2 main couples. One was the cliched rich man-poor woman storyline (with the disapproving parents) while the other had the not so common rich woman-poor man storyline (with disappointed parents). The 1st storyline was the main reason I watched it because although the concept is very common the acting was on point with both the characters having great chemistry. The main couple paled in comparison.

High-end crush is a rom-com web series which has enough episodes to encompass all twists and turns of the story but are all short enough to keep you engaged. This drama is quite sweet and a bit over the top in some aspects which can be ignored in favour of a great selection of side characters, beautiful ost & visuals. (for k-pop fans it also features Monsta-X)

Friend Zone is one of the more recent thai movies that I've watched. It is a light hearted rom-com that tells the story of 2 best friends over the span of about a decade. The story itself is not very unique but execution was well done, the filming took place in various beautiful destinations, the crazy antics of the 2 bffs were fun to watch with some super intense moments put in the midst of it. All in all this movie is nothing to rave about but it does deliver what it promises.
