Favorite Dramas

These shows are in a rough order based on my personal enjoyment. Though each is very different from the others, there are certain things they all have in common: warmth, sincerity, loving attention to main characters and side characters alike, a sense of humor, and they take it easy on the cliches.

  • Bad Guys

    1. Bad Guys

    Korean Drama - 2014, 11 episodes

    A show about repentance.

  • Bad Family

    2. Bad Family

    Korean Drama - 2006, 16 episodes

Worst kiss in the history of kisses and it's so adorable. This show is like an ugly dog that turns out to be cuddly and gentle, and eventually you look at that slobbering face and all you see are eyes full of love.

  • Incomplete Life

    3. Incomplete Life

My life is now complete, there is nothing misaeng

  • Miss Korea

    4. Miss Korea

  • While You Were Sleeping

    5. While You Were Sleeping

    Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes

This show was a little too self-indulgent, but good grief it pleasantly surprised me in so many ways.

  • Six Flying Dragons

    6. Six Flying Dragons

    Korean Drama - 2015, 50 episodes

The secret evil organization was a disappointment. However, the show was really well done and will get you interested in the history of the era. Back when I was watching it, I liked to say it was Skyrim crossed with Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • Chicago Typewriter

    7. Chicago Typewriter

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

This was a really interesting and funny show that actually had a good reason for the second lead failing to get the girl despite his devotion. I hated one aspect of the ending and found the reincarnation thing, as usual, to be a bit depressing. But the show was solid and very stylish.

  • Pinocchio

    8. Pinocchio

    Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes

Weird but good. Y tho Cap, y? I had to go and watch My Too Perfect Sons for you and your plotline in THAT show wasn't very fulfilling. You were hilarious in both shows, though.

  • My Too Perfect Sons

    9. My Too Perfect Sons

    Korean Drama - 2009, 54 episodes

This show is very frustrating, but rewarding. Why are half the characters alcoholics??

  • Signal

    10. Signal

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

The ending is good even while feeling incomplete. Detective Lee Jae Han is my favorite superhero. i cri evrytiem

  • 38 Task Force

    11. 38 Task Force

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    'Cause I'm the Taxmaaan

  • Naked Fireman

    12. Naked Fireman

    Korean Drama - 2017, 4 episodes

This is NOT what it sounds like.

  • Circle

    13. Circle

    Korean Drama - 2017, 12 episodes

Good, weird, trippy, kind of cute.

  • Memory

    14. Memory

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

The director did not know how to do dynamic dialogue scenes and the melodrama can be a bit much. But the show is real nice.

  • Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

    15. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

All of the characters bothered me from time to time, but it was a flippin sweet show.

  • Goblin

    16. Goblin

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

The romance is okay, it takes up too much time. Ending was not great. The fantasy parts are pretty rockin and the comedy is just amazing. Extremely silly but amazing.

  • The Master's Sun

    17. The Master's Sun

    Korean Drama - 2013, 17 episodes

BOO! SCARED YA DIDN'T I?? This show is so funny and weird. This was my first drama and it had some of the lame drama cliches but in tolerable quantities and the comedy and acting mostly made up for it.

  • Who Are You?

    18. Who Are You?

    Korean Drama - 2008, 17 episodes

Yoon Kye Sang acting like an old guy acting like a younger guy. Fun stuff. The show got a little sappy after Episode 14 but the relationship between the main lead and the ghost dad was super duper all the way through. If you're planning to watch The Greatest Love, watch it first so you can get over the Second Lead Syndrome from that show with this one later.

  • Dream High

    19. Dream High

    Korean Drama - 2011, 16 episodes

    I thought I would hate it. I didn't.

  • I Hear Your Voice

    20. I Hear Your Voice

    Korean Drama - 2013, 18 episodes

Weird show, weird romance. I still liked it.

  • Tamra, The Island

    21. Tamra, The Island

    Korean Drama - 2009, 16 episodes

There are many times when you want to punch the female lead, but it's still a good show. Watch the Director's Cut.

  • Pasta

    22. Pasta

    Korean Drama - 2010, 20 episodes

The main leads both have issues, but all's well that ends well and there are a lot of beautiful little character moments. Like the maknae's empty plate *tears of joy*
