It is set up in the same universe as Tharntype (which is the sequel of Love By Chance) but it can be a bit confusing as the cast is a bit different for the same roles between the 2 shows,. I personally enjoyed Love By Chance more than TharnType: it is less problematic (except for the secondary storylines which are repetitive between the 2 dramas) and it is cuter. It is a quite surprising and effective melange of slice-of-life and fantasy with some elements of thriller and romance. If you love one of the actors/actresses of the cast, it is a "must see". Strangely enough, even if the scenario has nothing to do with it, it kind of remind me in a way of "Titanic" in terms of relationships, characters and plot structure.

Even if I found the first season more striking and powerful overall, this second season is worth it and provide a satisfying conclusion to the story. I cannot get enough of these characters, so I would gladly watch if there are a season 3. There are indeed so much more stories on military life and deserters that could be told...but I also think a sequel is not needed and I am happy as well if it ends on this note.

An unfinished controversial Chinese BL, worth the watch despite its shortcomings

I would recommend this to people looking for a more raw BL romance in a high school. The romance is kind of toxic but captivating to follow. And there is a real indie feel to the show that I found really attractive. As stated above, you need to be aware that because it was cancelled, it does not have a proper ending with most of the narrative arcs are left unfinished. I still think it is really worth a watch just to see the development of the romance which has some really enthralling peaks and valleys.
