Must-see romance Chinese/Taiwanese dramas

I have a tendency to write off Chinese/Taiwanese dramas (specifically Mandarin-language dramas) that center around romance as being extremely underwhelming. They're often littered with tropes, have questionable storylines and pacing, and the actors are either relatively new or the director's vision isn't to my liking. Another part of this is simply because I understand a decent amount of Mandarin. Therefore, it's a lot more cringy to see emotions being portrayed incorrectly or plot being absolute trash when it's in a language I understand, compared to K-dramas or Thai dramas. 

So, one of the main reasons I started my account and the reason I'm keeping this list is to a) be more constructively critical rather than straight-up bash C-dramas/Taiwanese dramas (oops) and b) try to provide some solid recommendations for anyone who needs a new drama to watch/doesn't know where to start.

I don't watch a lot of historical dramas, so this list mainly focuses on dramas set in the modern-day, but I hope you all enjoy nonetheless.
