For acting, Yoon Park (as Kang Jae) and Son Dam Bi (as Hyo Jin) in particular could have been better. Yoon Park was a bit stiff. Kim Sang Kyung (as Tae Joo) was good, but sometimes a little overacted - mostly when he was supposed to be funny. He nailed the more serious parts. Kang Shim was probably my favorite character, and Kim Hyun Joo did a good job acting her role. I also enjoyed Park Hyung Shik as Dal Bong as another favorite - it was really cute when you could see how similar he was to his father. I enjoyed all the characters, though - even the ones that could be annoying sometimes.
There was a nice balance between the comedy and the drama, and I laughed a lot and shed a few tears. There were definitely some emotional scenes. This drama really makes you want to show your family appreciation and love while they are still here with you.
I rated low on the re-watch just because I doubt I will ever re-watch a 53 episode drama.
The music was nice, especially the Father's Youth song - very touching.

Simply Beautiful
From the moment this drama came out all the way back in 2014 I've heard nothing but praise. But i was too in love with bl dramas and underestimated just how special this show is.Through this show i was introduced to a whole new world of dramas that i never knew i'd enjoy.
The main story of this show is too beautiful and heartbreaking. It will break your heart but make you smile at the same time. Even now i get emotional thinking back at some of the scenes. Though through that heartbreak, you learn to love and adore every single character and create a special bond. You may come to hate some too but as the drama goes on, you see development.
I put the re-watch value at a 1.0 for one reason. I simply don't like to re-watch shows or movies I've already watched.
I learned a lot from this drama. One of my life dramas. I strongly recommend.

Aside from that, I am giving this an easy 10. It was not perfect but i loved every bit of it, even the most annoying parts. It did really help in making the characters grow in me. The characters are not perfect, but they are real. I can relate to them to certain aspects and I can see their intentions even with their stupidest decisions.
Good writing, but I hope that Nam Ji Hyun will stop baby talking and accept country bumpkin roles. Seriously I loved her in Shopping King Louis because it was the first time I saw her acting and I found it innocent and cute, but after watching some of her dramas, it gets tiring
Abuji deserves best acting award!! Actually all of them deserves it except Nam Ji Hyun really
I HAD GOOD LAUGHS, FELL IN LOVE AND CRIED A LOT BECAUSE OF THIS DRAMA DAEBAK SO HEARTWARMING I HOPE EVERYONE WATCHES THIS BECAUSE I DEFINITELY APPRECIATE MY PARENTS MORE THAN FOREVER

Heartfelt
It is definitely one of those dramas that will drastically change your outlook on life, especially when you're hit with the fact that the kids you grow to despise, are not far different from yourself. It is indeed a fun drama to watch, but will also make you cry some times once the sudden realization starts to set in. I'm ashamed to admit that as a grown woman, it needed a drama for me to change my morals about family and other people's feelings. Yet I'm thankful I gave this, kind of quirky, drama a chance.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
Also the drama shows the role & responsibility of a father.

Real Family Drama
Last episode was an emotional roller coaster. "If you don't tell someone you love them, they won't know" even if it's your own family. So TALK, COMMUNICATE & OPEN YOUR HEARTS.THIS IS A WHOLESOME DRAMA THAT feels like being in one's own home. The story unfolds like everyday happenings in a real family and you're being part of them.
50+ episode long, 2014 drama about a chaotic family's daily struggles, generation gap, class difference. Lots of wholesome moments & comic relief. Many relatable, few loud characters.
It's the #Baghban of #Kdramas

I wish there was more dramas made such as this one!
For younger generations I would recommended it because they would value and appreciate things that they might not even think of, for older generations, it's a confirmation of what family really should be or is.
I have watched this drama within 3 weeks. I did episode per day, sometimes more because the plot of the story was so good I did not want to stop and finish. Of course other duties of life prevented me from marathon it fast, but perhaps that was better because I "digested" each episode well and made me reflect on the drama that much more.
Please don't quit. IF you start watching it, keep till the end. This drama is like green grape that ripens with time to a purple color. You would love it, and at the end you would say - I have not wasted my time, I have been not only entertained, but learned from it so much it would last me a lifetime!!!

The Children's characters development was worth it, i almost dropped it cus they were annoying
Basically I would say that is a good drama to pass time but the love relationships are completely dragged as long as possible like every other Family drama. I would never say this dram is one of my favourites or its a must watch, but I would 100% say it's message in the value of being grateful for your family and understanding + caring for your parents is valuable. Now the Children's love lives... I can't say I hated any of them, but I every time the oldest son's wife opened her mouth,
and called her mother ask for "advice" I really wanted to punch her. Her victim mentality was so irritating and how spoilt she was was even worse, although i understand her sometimes I was disappointed how her personality barely developed other than her making her own choices for once. I know it is because she was always rich and always got her way but I almost drama because of her and her husband.
I totally could not stand her husband either. Gang-Jae was the most self absorbed prick ever, I hated him so much, and when he got so upset when he found out the secret I hated him so much. BUT, his character development was so good, be regretted his actions, worked hard, and tried to be more emotionally open to his wife, even when she was being super immature.
Dal Bong and Seo-wool were really cute for most part, but it was gradually getting quite dull, but it was not too bad.
I would say this drama would defs make you cry.

Side couple carried this average drama.
Hear me out, I know Cha Dal Bong and Kang Seo Wool are supposed to be the main couple, but from the first viewing and subsequent ones, I have always felt the urge to skip their scenes. When I did, I enjoyed this drama a lot more. Cha Gang Jae's character felt like a plot filler. I neither enjoyed nor disliked his scenes. His character created a lot of drama through his overreactions and how he is written in general. He and his female interest are equally boring and are used to cause drama to extend the show. Let's talk about the family. Secretary Cha and the director are one of my favorite Kdrama couples ever. They're funny, cute, romantic, and not written overly seriously, which I love a lot. Kim Sang Kyung's comedic timing was incredible. I lost count of how many times I laughed during this drama because of him. Lastly, the father's acting in this drama is some of the best in Korean dramas.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
The Best Family Drama Ever
This is the first time ever in my life to watch a 53 episode Korean family drama and I am so pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it so thoroughly. Everything about this drama was on point and I liked it from the very first episode. The characters in this drama from the very warm and loving father, Soon Bong to his three children, daughter Kang Shim (Kim Hyun Joo) , son Gang Jae (Yoon Park) and youngest boy Dal Bong (breakthrough performance Park Hyung Shik) are so good, one would think they are a real life family. The extended family in Soon Bong's devoted sister, her daughter and her son-in law who lives with them, adds so much more drama and reality of two family units living in one house. And I definitely enjoyed the added characters of Kang Shim's eccentric but kind-hearted boyfriend, Gang Jae's rich family's wife and Dal Bong's delightful and loving Seo Wool (played by talented Nam Ji Hyun).
I laughed so much, I cried so much, I felt every emotion that the drama was putting out there for us to enjoy. With many who liked this drama very much, to me, this is also the Best Family Drama I have ever watched.
If you like Family Drama's, this is one you should not miss.
Cheers!
