Perfect Marriage Revenge (2023)

Revenge drama turned into soap opera

Another drama with a very strong start. At first I was hesitant whether the FL would be able to go from sweet to a strong lead to get her revenge but glad she did quite well.

The chemistry between was good but their screentime decreased and whenever they were shown they just talked about how they are there for each other and nothing more. Here I would say it was because the antagonists got a lot of screentime.

Its a very typical typical k-drama... like they were slapping each other and throwing drinks and all. The male lead`s family was something like I would expect to watch in a drama aired before 2015. And the female lead`s family simply came out of Cinderella`s story.

To be honest the revenge wasn`t satisfying at all and if you are following k-dramas from quite sometime I think you`ll be able to foresee almost all the twists.

Overall its better to watch the drama keeping in mind that its actually more like a melodrama rather than a revenge drama.

Um dorama muito hypado mas que não é tudo isso

Sinceramente, eu dropei porque não conseguia ligar pra mais nada do que acontecia. Tem muitas reviravoltas ao mesmo tempo e é muito difícil de se apegar aos personagens considerando que não se tem tempo pra isso. O ritmo também é muito rápido, quase anticlimático, pois não se tem tempo de construir uma tensão. Coisas ruins acontecem, e logo em seguida se tem uma retribuição. Com relação a isso, apenas os dois primeiros episódios fazem um bom trabalho nesse quesito.
Eu li alguns capítulos da webtoon, então já tinha pegado alguns spoilers e sinceramente... A história não me cativou nem um pouco.
É um drama ruim? Não, mas também não é tudo isso. É mediano, nada surpreendente. A trama também é extremamente previsível.
O primeiro episódio é tão bobo que parecia uma produção de baixo orçamento. Talvez o formato da história funcione pra uma webtoon, mas pra uma série fica extremamente caricato. Você não consegue sentir uma profundidade real nos personagens, o que torna muito difícil de se torcer por eles.
O casal principal tem uma boa química, mas o plot é mais focado na vingança, deixando eles de lado em certo ponto.
Enfim... Dropei porque já não ligava mais.

Un drama convenu mais très solide

Si ce drama n'invente rien, il est, par contre, très bien scénarisé et réalisé. Alors, certes, les ficelles sont un peu grosses mais on ne pourra pas lui reprocher cela, puisqu'elles sont inhérentes au genre. De plus, je trouve que la multitude de rebondissements est amenée avec douceur et certaines interrogations des débuts trouvent leur explication "logiques" ou astucieuses dans les derniers épisodes. Certes, ce drama n'est pas dénué défauts, mais ils restent mineurs. Ce qui explique, aussi en partie, ma note est un dernier épisode particulièrement réussi, qui prend son temps, là où d'autres dramas ne savent pas éviter l'écueil du bâclage. Une mention toute particulière pour l'excellent jeu d'actrice de Jin Ji Hee.

Good Enough

Korean Drama '' Perfect Marriage Revenge '' is a fantasy melodrama with a nice start.

The drama indeed starts off strongly, with the makjang vibes really rocking it, as the main female lead was being bitten down again and again by her evil adopted mother and her daughter. The love story that started to bloom was quite interesting as well.

And sure, there were some really idiotic things happening to the characters, but the melodrama allowed the story to be excused from them. The ending, however, and the episodes towards it, were all something that the makjang genre didn't support. The drama started focusing more on the romance, hence, it didn't have enough time to wrap up nicely the rest of the storylines. And, the fantasy element that was used in the first episodes and was forgotten in the middle ones, was brought out again, and wasn't handled smoothly, rather, it was quite rushedly concluded.

So, overall, four out of ten.

This was a wish fulfillment drama.

The story isn't all that compelling and it sure as hell isn't anything you haven't seen before EXCEPT for the fact that we came out the dugout winning and continued to. It was refreshing and entertaining to see our leads (especially our FL) fight back with as much venom as was thrown her way and not fail at every turn.

and after all the suffering that we've put ourselves through watching almost every FL get treated like a floor rag and being magnanimous in return, this drama provided us with the opportunity to watch and cheer one on as she got her pound of flesh back with impunity.

but even that lost its allure after a while and the feeling of satisfaction wasn't enough to carry such a basic script and subpar acting

(also, i truly believe that all the wardrobe funding went to the sister cause what were those outfits that man was in. he was dressed like someone's grandpa half the time and I 100% believe he'd never seen the inside of a fitting room)

The concept was very simplistic and has been done before, but the script writer was given simple tasty ingredients and managed to flesh out a script that avoided to many cliches, and stuck with the simple straightforward theme. The script avoided the biggest mistake that plagues a lot of writers, trying to put an overly realistic spin on the story and trying to be different. The classic are that for a reason nothing wrong with “tried, true and tested”.

The director did a good job of staying out off his own way and let the story flow naturally.

The actors overall did a nice job and avoided overacting which generally plagues Makjangs, making this one of the few off this genre I can watch.

Sets where okay, no great emphasis on production value, the wardrobe was good with minimal emphasis on costume design, everyone’s wardrobe reflected their character, which showed that thought and planning went into them.
The product placement was not over the top and intrusive like you see a lot of the time.

Pacing was good and crisp, no lagging.

1st and 2nd act were smooth like freshly churned butter in french country side boulangerie. And thank goodness there were not crazy breakups in the 3rd and we got revenge served with a great heaping helping off the warm and fuzzies.

I’ve rewatched twice already, enough said.

NOT WORTH THE HYPE but watch and decide for yourself

Personally, I hated this drama. It came HIGHLY recommended to me and it fell so very flat and flopped so hard. Everyone was praising it like it was the best drama of 2023. Really?????? Not by a long shot when dramas like Destined with you, My Demon, Welcome to Samaldri, See you in my 19th life, Twinkling Watermelon etc exist.

Not going to lie, I watched this drama and I was hooked by the pilot episode. Despite usually avoiding Sung Hoon's dramas like the plague (MR ONE EXPRESSION), I really did like the main female lead and was willing to give the show a go. I feel like the first few episodes were semi-ok and piqued my interest but the acting of the Stepmother was so OVERDONE and CRINGE even for a makjang drama and then every single episode was torture to finish. Thankfully the drama is short so I pushed through it. The chemistry of the leads kept me going where the storyline was boring and predictable etc.

I guess I couldn't take the drama all that serious when they essentially did CONTROL COPY AND PASTE to the entire Love Ft Marriage Divorce cast into this drama. Seriously it was a joke.

It's a drama that I will never rewatch but it wasn't the worst kdrama that I've ever seen either. I just get really mad with people praising it like it was the bes thing ever. Watch and decide for yourself.

It could have been better

The drama starts out with a positive light and I got hooked at first, but after the first few episodes, I got disappointed with the storylines direction.

The drama was supposed to be based on the FL lead's revenge journey towards her family but it was not a satisfactory in my opinion.

The payback was a little too lenient for my taste, I expected more due to the fact that her mother, sister and husbands family were all mean to her and took advantage of her gentle personality.

After she was given a second chance her character didn't seem fired up to bring down the people who had wronged her in her previous life.

The paintings were nice and looked realistic, the ML's mother was nice but I didn't like the ML's wardrobe, his clothes were very baggy and made him look funny.

The accident that happened between the ML and his brother was not fully explored, his trauma was not covered in an understanding way.

The ending seemed a bit rushed but the leads looked adorable.

Un bon dosage de vengeance et de romance

Après le très décevant "Boss & Me" (version chinoise) que je venais d'abandonner en cours de route tellement l'héroïne enjouée et neuneu m'agaçait à force de ne jamais s'affirmer (à sa décharge, ce drama a presque 10 ans donc bon...), la série coréenne "Perfect Mariage Revenge" a été un parfait remède ainsi qu'une excellente surprise.

Bien qu'elle n'évite pas les clichés habituels (une Cendrillon abusée par tous se voyant offrir une seconde chance et décidée à se venger, l'habituelle romance avec le PDG beau gosse d'une grande entreprise, secrets de famille et luttes de pouvoir, une mère & une sœur adoptives machiavéliques cherchant à pourrir la vie de la FL...), cette histoire sait les agencer de manière logique, efficace et sans temps morts. Ainsi, malgré certains rebondissements qu'on voit parfois venir à l'avance, il se passe toujours quelque chose et à aucun moment je ne me suis ennuyée. Ajoutez à cela des dialogues pertinents, des jeux d'acteurs relativement bons, des personnages consistants, le tout relativement bien dosé, et vous obtenez un drama coréen parfait pour occuper un week-end cocooning. Par ailleurs, la série sait aborder avec justesse les conséquences d'abus psychologiques et la difficulté de se libérer d'une famille toxique alors qu'on a désespérément besoin d'être aimé. Il faut souvent un déclic radical avant d'ouvrir les yeux et de s'autoriser à choisir une nouvelle route, et si le procédé n'est pas nouveau (après sa mort dans un 1er épisode où elle s'en est pris plein la gueule, l'héroïne a l'occasion de retourner une année en arrière et de changer le cours des choses), en tout cas il est pertinent et efficace.

Vengeance et romance s'imbriquent relativement bien, et même s'il est évident que le côté vengeance est surtout un prétexte à l'installation de la romance, le dosage reste assez bon. Une fois qu'elle a enfin ouvert les yeux et cela de la manière la plus douloureuse qui soit, notre héroïne apprend à s'affirmer et rend tous les coups qu'elle a reçus. En cela, le drama est plutôt jouissif et fait office de bonne catharsis quand on vient de se taper une énième daube présentant de manière romantique les abus de pouvoir d'un patron froid et tyrannique sur la pauvre employée au bon cœur qui affiche une moue puérile et boudeuse au lieu de voler dans les plumes de ceux qui profitent d'elle. D'ailleurs, même si nous avons droit au beau PDG, l'histoire parvient à s'écarter de ce schéma traditionnel en développant une romance saine malgré un point de départ téléphoné (un mariage à durée déterminée conclu comme un contrat où chacun y trouve son compte). Dès le début le ML se révèle comme un partenaire respectueux des traumatismes de la FL et le parfait soutien dont elle a besoin pour reprendre confiance dans les autres, et à aucun moment il ne cherche à abuser de la situation. Quant à l'héroïne, elle est loin de la classique demoiselle en détresse. Il est vrai que le support du héros est crucial au début, néanmoins cela découle de ses décisions à elle sitôt qu'elle a choisi de prendre sa vie en main et de chercher les ressources nécessaires là où elles se trouvent. Après avoir expérimenté une dépendance affective avec son ex, elle se montre désormais plus indépendante et sa nouvelle histoire d'amour est beaucoup plus équilibrée. Certains ont pu s'étonner dans les commentaires que l'amour du ML pour l'héroïne est un peu rapide voire facile, pour ma part son affection m'a semblée logique et compréhensible au vu du déroulement de l'histoire et des révélations ultérieures, d'autant qu'il a également vécu un traumatisme familial. Sachant cela, il est normal qu'il s'identifie en partie à elle et que cela favorise le lien qui les unit. Et même si j'ignore si c'était intentionnel - en tout cas ça m'a sauté aux yeux et j'ai trouvé ça plutôt futé - la série réussit à mettre en parallèle deux situations où cette notion d'identification est présente, mais dans le premier cas (le 1er époux reconnaît son propre côté pitoyable dans l'image que lui renvoie la FL) cela ne peut aboutir qu'à l'échec alors que dans le second, ça devient constructif grâce au soutien qu'ils s'apportent mutuellement pour atteindre un objectif commun.

En conclusion, si on passe sur ses rebondissements parfois attendus et ses méchantes un peu caricaturales, on profite pleinement de cette histoire rythmée, bien agencée et construite intelligemment. Un drama qui ne renouvelle peut-être pas le genre, mais qui fait du bien au moral.

Vengeance au féminin

Ce drama est vraiment bien fait! Le premier épisode nous met directement dans le contexte et je peux vous dire que j'ai failli en casser mon écran! Les "méchants" sont vite repérés et il me tardait de voir comment elle allait s'y prendre. Chaque épisode nous apprend quelques chose et sa vengeance évolue en fonction des personnes concernées. Je trouve qu'elle aurait put aller encore plus loin par moment mais c'est tout pardonné tant ce drama est devenu addictif.
Les deux acteurs principaux ont une alchimie imposante, dés qu'ils sont ensemble ils écrasent tout à l'écran.

I just finished watching Perfect Marriage Revenge some hours ago and i will say it is really good. When this kdrama was ongoing, i decided not to watch and wait for all the episodes. After all the episodes were out, i was always procrastinating and finally, I've being able to watch. These are my reviews;
1. The drama is really good and i understood the hype of it when it was ongoing.
2. All the characters were perfect for their role. I've known sunghoon for while now but haven't seen his series yet until now and i will say it was worth it.
3. My little problem was that i expected a more intense revenge like that of 'The Glory' but the revenge here wasn't like revenge but a karma rather. The ending for all the villians were okay but not okay.
Thus, i will rewatch perfect marriage revenge but in 10 years time.
Also, i think the FL had her revenge so easy. She had a lot of people on her side when she did nothing. Anyway, GOOD JOB.

A second chance

It was a story about the girl who always ill treated by her family. One day limit had exceeded when she came to know her husband was cheating her and she can't handled this . And then she met an accident ,that accident gave her second chance to ae the think correct but she never understand the date which had been mentioned on her hand . Even I had also not understand what that mean . Once again she met an accident that vanish the date from her hand and she thought that the date had disappeared so might be everything would be all aright.
Everything was nice in drama ,except I didn't get the logic of date.
Actors were good.
