They also meet a friend of their parents and chaos ensues as they navigate their parents history and have to make sure everything turns out alright

Set in 1980-90s, nostalgia feeling in shows. Old school romance. Twinkling watermelon has a slightly more modern feel but both satisfy the romance old school vibes.

Synopsis

The drama tells the story of how an ordinary girl Xia Guo chooses when faced with two different choices, and what happens. The drama is presented in parallel time and space. The different choices of the heroine will lead to different endings.There are the challenges and dilemmas of the big city; but on the other hand, there is the stability and triviality of the small town. If life could have other versions, and the "if" could be experienced, what would it look like? The drama realizes this "if" so that the heroine experiences two lives in parallel. How she will handle those choices is the big question.

twinkling watemelon is more dramatic and affectioning while back to the 90's is more comedic.

son from the future is going back to the 90's era to discover that he meets his young version of father and mother having all the same age

the father of male lead is within a musical band and the male lead will be his best friend, joining him in playing guitar and composing songs.

the male lead will be in a mission to make his father and mother ending up together after meeting a girl who is the female lead having a crush for his father.

the male lead will be working on changing the fate of these characters without feeling he will be falling for the female lead.

"Hit the Top" and "Twinkling Watermelon" have the same time travel concept where the son/father goes in the past/future where they meet each other. It has 90s vibes, family, friendship and the male leads are similar for being passionate about music.

Both dramas are about a protagonist who is/was not happy in life and is thrown into a new situation (game/past). While fixed on a mission in the new scenario (make Yeowoon happy/protect his father) they discover the main reason why they are there: To be happy themselves and enjoy their youth. Both dramas have an amazing Ost and great acting, not to forget are filled with love for the project by the cast and the staff working on it.
