Boarding House Number 5 (2022)

+ Comedy: especially in the beginning it's really funny. I like this kind of humour and it reminds me of "Oh, my Assistant". There were several scenes where I had to laugh! I love Jae Woo and how random he is. :D
+ Some Soundeffects in the beginning were quite funny
+ The acting is okay, but nothing outstanding for me.

Disliked/Room for improvement:
- These dramas always have the same issue. They are strong in the beginning and then just get quite boring and messy. The romance is meh. I even felt sorry for the third dude in the love triangle!
- The chemistry was underwhelming. :/
- The point where Cheol Soo started to behave different was so tiny, that at some point I was just confused why he suddenly likes Seol Woo and didn't understand why his feelings had changed

Like always with these kind of dramas: the start was good, the idea was good but the writing was poor. T_T I watched so many dramas in the last days and every show has this problem! I can't stand it anymore. :'D it was a bit boring towards the end and they wasted so much time on Ye Min. He would have been better off as a character like Jae Woo. Jae Woo was my favorite thing in this show. u.u

Light, funny, short bl romance

I enjoyed watching it very much. It was light hearted, funny, endearing and short. I would enjoy watching another season of it. I thought the actors did a fine job of portraying their characters in a short 8 episode series. I thought all of the characters in the boarding house were interesting with the high school goof ball being very funny. I loved when he was giving dating advice to the main lead. I was sure I knew how it would end until episode 7 ended then I wasn't sure. I especially loved the banter on the couch between the two main leads at the end of episode 8. Very cute.

First Favorite Korean Series 2022 SEASON 2

I love the story
I love the casts and the acting
The casts are cute and handsome
I felt butterflies in my stomach when their romantic scenes.
And also I felt the tensions in my body.
I rolled and rolled my body on my bed, thanks to Kim Cheol Soo & Seol Won and for awakening the love in our Heart

The first meeting of Kim Cheol Soo & Seol Won is so nice, like Shinning Knight, not argumentation. This thing is im very glad.
Rewatching every episode is not boring, not tiring.
WORTH TO REWATCH!!!!

Corrente de oração para a Coréia aumentar o tamanho dos BL's

E lá vamos nós com outro BL coreano com 8 eps de 20 minutos (quando vão aumentar??? socorro!).
Os plots coreanos geralmente são bem originais, apesar de simples e com bastante clichês, se comparados com os tailandeses.

Apesar do pouco tempo de tela, conseguiu contar a história de amor que nasceu entre Seol Won e Kim Cheol Soo, conseguiu explicar o motivo de todos estarem na pensão, mostrar a história de amor unilateral de Bong Deok, desenvolver sentimentos entre o casal secundário, e ainda trazer pitadas de humor maravilhosas.

O casal principal é fofo, os atores são excelentes (além de lindos), a ost maravilhosa e a fotografia não deixa a desejar.

O que poderia ter sido melhor explicado e desenvolvido, com certeza foi o casal secundário, até mesmo a cena pós créditos poderia ter sido um beijo entre eles pra fazer a galera feliz.

Com certeza assistirei de novo, e recomendo muito! Ótima pedida para maratonar num dia ocioso.

Good and bad of this series

Cheol soo actor is so good in acting he can express his role in hear .. and the actor for seol won is still okay he is a first timer . Both of them are handsome. The visuals of this leads are good . Light drama comedy not stressfull and overall okay . You can feel the couple. Cute ang good looking guys . Base on their role seol won is also first into a relationship and cheol soo i such a good guy doesn't care about getting into flirt.


But the story is so short no development for couples they just know each other and become a couple and why the writers didn't give a character development for them. bong deok have a good development. and the side story is so unnecessary. If this have lots of episodes they can have side stories but its too short. Hoping to have season 2

To actor Im Sung Kyun he have the an experience in dramas
To actor shin ki wan woow you have potential for heavy dramas.
To actor shin yong seok a good start for you career


and one thing i also like this is the story is openly gay .not just the other K BL that questioning their identity. It was straight to the point that they probably into guys no judgement from the others.

Definitely,it's a very cute series.I love the way they created this story,plus the whole cast did an amazing job.The personality of the main character was very profound and I enjoy the way he was put on that role.You can gain so many lessons in this series.Please watch and I'll promise you'll enjoy it.It can give you mixed emotions while watching it.

Very Good

Понравилась дорама! Корейцы снова молодцы! Не много простенько, в плане смены сцен и действующих лиц, но все-равно легко и приятно смотреть. Актеры шикарные! Мимика, взгляд, голос Сон Гюна это просто потрясающе. с концовки смеялась от души. эта их "договоренность" это просто выключите мою фантазию Прекрасно. Еще одна мини-дорама в разряд любимых.

Watch it only if you have spare time.

Idk what to call this: "You could do better with a little more time?" or "Cute idea, worst representation" or also "I didn't understand what was going on". Okay, that seems really bad, let me explain.

Story (7)
As I said, I don't know if the problem was the story, the little time or just me. I just feel something is off with this series. Maybe they could focus more on the main ship and give them all the screen time, instead of wasting it on a useless straight ship (sorry lol they had no sense to exist).

Acting/Cast (7)
Not the best, not the worst. Probably the actors were good but the characters were bad written. Sometimes it also felt cringe.

Music (6.5)
The only thing I hate about writing review of k-bl is that the music is always on point, so I just don't know what to say lol

Rewatch Value (4)
Just no lol There are so many good bls out there, I don't want to waste my time like this.

Overall (7)
I'm a person who hates to give low votes, so my 7.5 it's actually a bad one for me. Idk, I don't feel anything other than confusion about this drama.

The first impression is: this series is different. At the beginning of the 21st century, some movies were filmed with small, light cameras... from the view of the spectator. These shots had a distance so that you had the impression you were sitting at the next table. What was bad, most of these film shots were blurred or shaken. On purpose. When you stand somewhere, you don't stand rigidly either. But our brain doesn't perceive our movements that way. Neither does it when we close our eyes for a fraction of a second. But in the movie we perceive it and many viewers didn't like it. This film technique is called point-of-view (POV).
This series is a mixture. Here, it is sometimes filmed from the point of view of a viewer who is in the room, but without the shaking. The normal camera still dominates, as we have known it for decades.
The film technique is fresh, it's not ordinary, but it doesn't take getting used to either. It's bright, cool colors. And it all seems tidy.

I couldn't care less about the detailed scores of other reviewers here.
But the rather average score does surprise me.
The series is far above average.
Although everyone writes almost only good things about this series, they give lukewarm points. I think some are getting carried away. They are used to mainstream and want one-size-fits-all. OK. Let them.

The Story
Yes, nothing new, nothing old. The story could be replaced at will, with so many other dramas. If you expect milestones here, you will be disappointed. But let's face it. Those expecting milestones are definitely not looking for a film from the drama-entertainment league.

The Production
It might not be the most expensive. But it was wonderfully realized. There was love in the details.

Drama Scope/Length
This series has 8 very short episodes. And if you like, you can watch them in an afternoon. They are so short that some people watch the movie version. Either produce a series, or a movie. This series was produced as a series. So whoever watches it as a movie, watch out. You're watching a series and they have a different rhythm.

Acting
Because the series has such short episodes, there is no depth psychology. There's no time to accommodate that.
I find the minimal facial expressions downright ingenious. There are no clumsy dramatricks to give you room for your own thoughts.
Basically, I found everything very well implemented. The movie kisses would have to be rehearsed a bit.
What I often see in Asian productions is kissing, but the bodies are 3 kilometers away from each other. As a European, I'm totally disturbed by that. When a kiss, which is very intimate anyway, the bodies also have to touch. And I'm not talking about euphoric rolling while kissing in bed. But rather kissing while standing. The bodies don't have to move, but they do have to touch.

Script
Here I have a very small problem.
At the beginning, one is too sweet and pushy for me, then turns very in the penultimate and last episode. While the other one is quite aggressive at the beginning and wants to have his peace, he becomes totally sweet at the end. That worked. But it's a risk. I think it should have been written a little more gently.
I also think the third person should have had a little more attention. When my best friend enters the room, he gets attention and anything else is rude. But maybe you wanted to portray your emotional world in the quick. I mean, less is more. Either I take him out, or I go for him.

Feels like a cut up show

Let them eat cake!

The good thing about this show, the actors are hot. Some scenes look like they were cut out from a 10 star show.

The bad part... which is a really big downer, was the pacing. It really felt like someone took a longer show and clipped out the highlight parts and smashed them together. Everything was super rushed. It felt so awkward.

I don't want to be unfair and compare a SK BL to a Thai BL because we all know they are in entire different realms of content, but come on. Have SK BL writers never watched a Thai BL drama? Do they not realize handing out bare bones stories isn't the way to go? They write out summary ideas of shows and make just that, summary shows. Where is the meat and potato's? Where is the feeling of warming up to the characters chemistry? Some SK BL's are decent when short, but others just feel so lacking.
