Absolute BL (2021)

This is my first time watching a comedy BL series without laughing even just for a second. I was staring blindly to the entire series the whole time. Moreover, the setting itself is a BL world, an imaginary place where romance between boys must be overflowing and grand. Yes, they are dozens of cute couples shown. Weirdly enough, I haven't felt any love affections at all. I watched this knowing that this is adapted from a manga. I think this would be better if the acting is more exaggerated. Anime adaptation is more likely a better idea.

The last episode is pretty watchable. Other episodes failed to entertain me. I see the potential, but for me, the execution of lines failed miserably and the storyline is a little bit lacking in substance. Anyways, maybe I'm not young enough to enjoy this kind of series. I'll watch the season 2, hoping for an upgrade.

Personally, I don't recommend this to watchers who wants a more realistic and logical storyline.

To be honest, if I had not read the manga, it would be a 10. I adore the manga, and I think their plotlines might be diverging (I am not sure though). I think I would have preferred a more open ending. It is just that if the creators chose to diverge in the plotline, I would have liked if there was more of a buildup to the relationship. But that would have not worked, because it is very short, and I do understand there are budget constraints. Personally, I was waiting for the guy who was the main character's little brother's classmate to show up. He is another potential love interest for the main character in the manga, but he didn't show up. Still, I am very pleased with what they have done, and I really, really love it.

A Hilarious BL Parody & Appreciation Show

A Man Who Defies the World of BL airs on Viki as a four episode series. This comedic fantasy tells the story of "Mob," an average college student who realizes that he lives inside of a Boy Love world. Trying to avoid becoming the protagonist of his own BL story line, Mob researches all the tropes of Boy Love manga so he can avoid them in real life. He watches his classmates, friends, and even his younger brother fall into a boys' love plot. The more he fights the reality of his world, the more inevitable it becomes that he cannot avoid it despite wanting a girlfriend.

Mob is hilariously played by Atsushiro Inukaj. His hysterical inner monologue and over-the-top facial expressions truly sell the ridiculous notion that Mob can avoid the pitfalls of living in a BL world. The show is funny even if you're not familiar with shoujo/BL romance anime or manga tropes. If you are familiar with them, the show is even funnier as the viewer knows Mob will not escape this story line without falling in love.

Although the brevity of the series makes it easier to complete in a day, I wish the ending was bit a longer and more fleshed out.

Es una parodia cortita sobre el mundo del bl, representa diferentes tipos de parejas y situaciones que se han convertido en clásicas de estas historias, como el guapo y popular chico que se enamora del tímido, las muestras de celos, llevar a casa al interés amoroso en la espalda cuando está borracho, etc.

Es divertido ver a Mob leyendo mangas bl para aprender cómo suceden las cosas y evitar a toda costa "volverse" gay. Si lo pensamos sin tomar en cuenta que es parodia, el chico tiene un problema de homofobia interiorizada.

Entre las múltiples parejas que se forman con los conocidos del protagonista, está una que involucra a su hermano menor. Me alegra que a esta le dediquen mayor tiempo porque la verdad son bastante tiernos.

La gran moraleja es: puedes tratar de huir de la homosexualidad, pero nunca escapar de ella.

No puedo no mencionar la secuencia de entrada, ¡es maravillosamente pegadiza y adictiva! Mi favorita de los bls hasta el momento.

I watched this series back in 2021, and I love this series. It brings classic comedy and cliches that happens on a BL mangas and animes. It's funny, light, and also enjoyable. Maybe this series could be cringey for some people, but for someone who's been following animes and japanese dramas for a long time, this cliches are relatable and accurate. The manga is waaaay more funnier, though. I love how Atsuhiro portrayed the main character, and how he reacts to every cliches that happens around him was very funny. I think this series could be more enjoyable by someone who have been reading mangas or watching japanese BLs.

i want to live in that bl world lmao

this show is funny and entertaining asf, i find myself enjoying watching and ended up bing watching the eps... something about it is so addictive? i was curious about the events and whats happening next. its just so interesting
i also wanted to mention that watched a lot of shows that have comedy and i find myself not enjoying most of them ,but this show was completely different, a comedy that is actually entertaining and funny.
the only thing to complain about is that i wish the romantic aspect of the lead was explored more, it was very brief but over all its great, i wanted to see more about ayato and tojo, was so interested in their relationship as well

"Meet Cute" overload

This was a very funny and cute series. It basically takes the piss out of the world of BL and how the smallest "Meet Cute" could lead to a relationship. It has all the tropes everywhere you look but done in a way where the main character is practically pointing them out for the audience.

It's almost as if they made this series as an introduction to the world of BL however I find the humor is in the fact that BL lovers have seen all of this done multiple times and we know the truth behind the joke that it is overused. I feel like anyone can enjoy this, whether they are new to the BL scene or a seasoned watcher.

I read some reviews where people thought the ML's relationship kinda happened out of nowhere and was too short but I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. The show is completely centered around that idea of the first meeting and so I think it ended perfectly where he finally succumbed to letting that first meeting evolve into asking the guy out on a date. It still came around full circle. I know there is a second season (which I haven't seen yet as I write this) but I feel like this ended on a good note and I don't feel like it needed more. I'll still watch the second season just because I liked this one so much.

Last thought... I could watch the opening song countless times and not get tired of it.

80% Comedy + a 20% Romance = 100% Fun

The idea was great ! The plot and cast were all so amazing.
the one thing that made me give 10 to casting was Mob's facial expression. He made the whole series 10 x funnier and really liked how he would predict the scenarios.
It was too little to no intimate scenes in this series, but believe me, YOU WON'T REGRET WATCHING IT, specially if you've watched a handful amount of BL series.

despite being a 4-episode series, I felt it's longer. I really like how japanese series can develop the story and characters in such a short amount of time.
overall, make sure to watch it.

Terlempar ke metaverse bL

Menceritakan sang tokoh utama "MOB", series ini menggambarnya dia masuk ke dalam dunia yang dipenuhi dengan romansa bL, dimana para pria sangat romantis dengan pria lain. Dari segi alur dan dialog, menurutku mudah difahami ya, banyak sekali monolog yang menjelaskan mengenai dirinya sendiri (si tokoh utama) tentang perasaannya dan kebingungannya atas dunia yang dia tinggali, dia menceritakan tentang "bagaimana seorang pria bisa menjalin hubungan romantis dengan pria lain". Walaupun si tokoh utama ini terkadang merasakan "geli" dan tidak mau berekspektasi lebih dari apa yang dia lihat, namun di dalam hatinya ~ dia menginginkan cinta juga. Dari segi visual tidak ada yang out of the box ya karena dipenuhi dengan adegan romantis, beberapa komedi ditunjukan oleh tokoh utama maupun tokoh lain, karakter di series ini lumayan banyak ya sehingga kita memang harus lebih mengenal mereka agar bisa menikmati seriesnya dengan optimal. Overall menurutku sangat rekomended ya untuk di tonton terutama untuk para bL watcher pemula.

This was a really fun, light-hearted watch. Just a simple plot for the laughs. I hope it gets a second season.

The relationships of the characters seemed to start really quick though especially with the main character. It went so quickly from Mob denying his attraction to liking Kikuri so quick. But I understand that it's all because it's a short parody special. It did make me think of how many people could be struggling with their internalized homophobia lol.

Overall a good special, I really have no regrets. It's a quick watch that won't leave you disappointed.
