The Uncanny Counter (2020)

easily one of the best kdramas i've seen

i dont know why this drama dont have the recognition deserved, ITS ONE OF THE BEST DRAMAS! i confess had dropped in the first ep, but after i gave a chance and no regrets. each caracter have your only history and personality, what makes you love they and even untill identify with one of them, and honestly i like that very much cause you fell more conection and affection for them, and that make have to very chemistry between they too.
the story is sooo captivating and creative, you never get bored with the eps.
pls just watch it right now, i have 100% confidence you'll like this if you already like dramas of fantasy, action and mistery.

This is a fun show with heartfelt moments and a good mix of action and comedy

Looking for something heartwarming? Looking for some fast paced action?
I feel like this show has a little bit of everything mixed in with it. There are kickass moments where you're rooting for the good guys and get to see justice served, but also unexpected heartbreaking moments. And if you're in the mood for utterly ridiculous comedic scenes? Those are there too! Some of my favourite comedic scenes include the team raiding a press conference and the mayor getting waste water dumped on him and an epic money heist which hinges on the ability of a certain strong dude to fake leg cramps. The show actually reminded me of the Fiery Priest, which is full of some truly epic comedy gold. (The fart scene in the vault? A classic.) But back to the Uncanny Counter.

So Mun is a really good main character - and despite getting superpowers all of a sudden he's not some perfect protagonist. You can see So Mun growing throughout the show from being this impulsive, naive kid who runs into dangerous situations by himself like a dummy to learning to be patient and relying on his teammates. His teammates are also complex characters with their own backstories and their friendships and personalities are part of what make the show worth watching.

You also get to see other people mature through the show, including the mayor's son who starts out as this major bully and transforms after being shown true kindness for the first time in his life when he is at his lowest. I feel like there was this theme of redemption with him and So Mun was a driving force in that. I don't know if he'll show up in season two but I really want them to be friends.

One of my only gripes with the show was with the Yung people and their unreasonable rules, where the Counters weren't even allowed to protect people and were just supposed to rid the world of evil spirits. I'm glad that later on they got permission to deal with the bad guys but that was seriously wack - also the way they welcomed back So Mun so suddenly after kicking him out seemed so fake.

In the last few episodes a lot of stuff happens and I found the reveal about So Mun's powers kind of weird / sudden. But I thought the show ended well and despite this being a show where you sort of know the good guys will triumph in the end, the journey there is fast paced and unpredictable with some major plot twists along the way. I'm not about to go binge read the webtoon, but I would watch season 2 if it comes out.

I would give this a solid 7.5-8.

Quando li a sinopse achei que seria apenas um grupo que sai caçando almas ruins, me surpreendi com a parte política, particularmente não gosto, mas a forma como as equipes são unidas me fez continuar envolvida. Digo equipes pois não me refiro apenas os caçadores, também os amigos pessoais de So Moon, mesmo sabendo que algo estava diferente continuava a acredita que não importa o que fosse seu amigo estaria fazendo coisas boas, sobre os caçadores, foi bonito de ver seu desenvolvimento pessoal e de equipe, também como família. Amei como de alguma forma todos estão ligados.

So Moon, meu favorito com toda certeza, é fofo, muito corajoso, amoroso e tenta sempre ver o lado bom das pessoas, mesmo que em certo ponto deixe de ser uma pessoa com deficiência, o tema ainda é tratado com respeito e delicadeza. O que me surpreendeu, já que ainda há muito preconceito na Coreia, espero futuramente mais dramas inclusivos. Yoo Joon Sang me surpreendeu, é meu segundo dorama dele, no outro ele estava tão diferente, espero que ele faça mais personagens divertidos, não que o seu personagem Ga Mo Tak não seja sério, ele é, mas tem um toque de humor na medida certa.

Ha Na é muito forte, mesmo sendo a mais fechada, se preocupa com os outros, apenas não consegue se abrir facilmente. Amei como se abriu aos poucos mesmo com dificuldade e começou a fazer coisas para os outros que não faria antes.

Mae Ok é a mãezona de todos, sempre dando carinho e puxões de orelha, ela é a líder mesmo que não se faça como tal, seu passado e de Jang Mool não foram revelados. Mesmo assim, o pouco que foi mostrado foi bem sensível e emocionante.

E Jang Mool o sugar daddy da equipe como ele mesmo disse, é rico, sempre investe e ajuda a equipe do seu jeito, mesmo sendo um caçador aposentado. Seu amor por Mae Ok é bem fofo de se ver.
Sobre os vilões, que show de atuação, os atores levam o crédito pelo sucesso com certeza, sem eles poderia ter ficado algo caricato ou até mesmo ridículo. Alguém dá um papel principal para o Lee Hong Nae, não deixe escapar este cara talentoso, por favor!

De qualquer forma, todos atuaram bem, nem sei o quanto me envolvi emocionalmente em suas lutas e torci para os caçadores. Acho que foi bem colocado que são suas ações que os transforma em maus e que até alguns podem ter salvação.

Fiquei tentando pensar no que poderia mudar ou ter sido diferente, mas pelo menos nessa temporada, parece que uma segunda foi confirmada, não tenho certeza, acho que foi bom desse jeito, porém espero menos politicagem na próxima.

dragged for too long.

liked the idea (ik the story is from a webtoon) demon hunting, counters with unique powers according to their personalities. it started off well and was heading to a good buildup of events but then it went downhill around ep 9. tbvh the entire show could've been winded up by 8-10 eps. a lot of eps in the middle felt like fillers and i felt like i was watching the same thing again and again. the entire setup felt like smtn new at the beginning but towards the middle it felt like i was watching just another weak PPL fighting rich powerful corrupt PPL and getting pushed till the last ep like a Tom & Jerry ep. had great potential but not pushed towards the right direction.

Amazing show!

I just finished watching this on netflix and loved it!
I can't wait for season 2 which is supposed to start around September 2021.
The cast did an amazing job.This is my fist time seeing Jo Byeong-kyu and Lee Hong-nae ,and I am pretty amazed by their performances and would love to see them again soon.
Also,shocked to see Ahn Suk-hwan in such cool way,as I have seen him mostly in historical dramas playing the bad guy.
Now,the show does have a lot of disturbing scenes (which I am used to),but might be too much for some people,especially how people with power treat their employees.I see this so often in kdramas that make me believe that it might be real,which is terrifying ,same with kids beings abused by their own parents/relatives.

Took me only 2 days to finish this

I have watched more than fifteen k-drama's till now. But this is the fastest I have finished watching any drama. Why? I don't even know. The story is so amazing that if you start watching it you just can't stop. The excitement & curiosity of knowing what happens in the next episode keeps you attached to this drama. Most of the the things about this drama was great. This drama is so fun to watch. All of the things more or less makes makes though this is an sci-fi, supernatural drama. The story is simple & fun to watch. What I meant by simple that the story is easy to understand.
If you are thinking about watching it then please do so. I can assure you that you won't regret it for sure. And rewatching this drama will be also very enjoyable!

THE EXCITEMENT REALLY NEVER ENDS!!

At first, I was skeptical of this drama, but the first episode grabs onto you like a hook! The Uncanny Counter is amazing, one of my newly found favorites. I looked forward to every weekend just so I could watch this show and figure out what was going to happen! A true nail-biter!

The plot was nicely done, I felt as if I understood everything I needed to know, and the progression of the characters was quite lovely. The highlight of this show, in my opinion, was the friendship. Onto character progression, Hyukwoo had a nice character progression, as he went from being a huge bully, and generally just a character you dislike a lot, to the one you start feeling a bit bad for and start liking because he starts being nicer, it was a nice touch. (a bit cliche, but it still gets me every time) I also liked how Mun became a counter out of nowhere, and his progression of becoming better, and settling in with his powers as a Counter, and figuring out all the new things he can do with them. The uncertainties the rest of the group had disappeared as Mun learned.

Uncanny Counter has a pretty good mix of Thrill, Political Corruption, Supernatural, Friendship, and light-heartedness, and it makes the drama itself great to watch.

I love this cast a lot, not just the actors/actresses, but the characters they play as well. They all work well together, and their characters were so nicely fit together, it was almost as if they were a family, and in my eyes, they really are a family. I truly love every member of the Counter squad, they live in my heart. I also love Mun's two best-friends, they are so wholesome and never failed to give me a smile! The casting on Uncanny Counter is splendid, and I couldn't imagine the cast being anyone else!

Overall, I 10/10 recommend Uncanny Counter, it's an amazing show, and I would, and probably will rewatch it again down the road. You will not regret watching Uncanny Counter!

This drama was a pleasant surprise. I'm usually up-to-date with upcoming and on-going Korean dramas, but somehow The Uncanny Counter managed to escape my radar upon release. Aside from seeing news about the viewership ratings, I knew nothing about this drama before I started watching. I could even say I avoided this drama for the most part because it looked like some kind of full comedy-action film just judging from the cover on Netflix. But oh boy was I wrong. After watching the first episode I could tell that this drama would be special, I was caught completely off guard as I didn't have a lot of expectations. This drama has a surprisingly deep story and the characters aren't one-dimensional. All the relevant characters had some kind of tearjerking backstory which contributed to some of the tears I shed. The chemistry of the main cast is to die for. There's just no way you won't be attached to the main characters once you finish this drama. The Uncanny Counter is a very exciting drama that makes you want to binge-watch all-day. This drama is filled with funny, sad, and action-packed scenes that will have you craving for more.

Flaws? There probably are a few here and there, but I enjoyed the drama too much to even notice. Overall, this drama is a masterpiece, one of the best dramas released in 2020!

The Uncanny Counter (2020) - as to how the plot says it, I really did not understand what it is all about. I did download the drama since someone asked me to and almost 2 weeks I stopped watching korean dramas, so this is the first korean drama I watched after two weeks and I was so fascinated and happy that I watched this one already completed.

It really has the vibes of OCN dramas, its brutal. I usually like OCN dramas because they don't play safe in the action scenes. This time around though, with a ‘fantasy’ genre it was bit off putting to me since I am not a fan of that certain genre, but surprisingly I liked this drama. I started to understand the story as I was watching it. I did feel the twitch/simple diversion in the mid part of the drama, but it's okay with me.

The drama is really, for me comic-like, that all I could think is that it's really adapted from a manhwa. It has that typical plotline that evolved to something new and refreshing. I liked how the characters portrayed their roles as well as giving emphasis unto family and friendship relationship rather than on the romance side. Overall I did enjoy this drama and I would likely watch the second season.

brings out strong emotions

This has to be one of my all time favourites. I have rewatched it so many times. I cried buckets but it was also very beautiful. It was hard to take breaks because i was so eager to finish it. Im am waiting for all episodes on season 2 to come out before i watch it. I hope its as good as this one.

the scene where Chu Mae ok's hand slips away from his son, i was a wreck. It really potrays the pain and guilt for being the only survivor.

That and when So Moon finally reveals why he needed to meet his parents, those were the scenes that hit the hardest.

I really recommend this serie, but bring tissues because it really draws you in emotionally. But it has a happy ending thank god.

Manger des nouilles et chasser les démons

L’histoire commence par la chasse d’un démon par un groupe de quatre personnes… Le démon a le dessus et l’un des quatre meurt…ou pas, parce qu’il y a plusieurs niveaux d’existence dans ce drama ! On entre de plain pied dans le fantastique, entre les chasseurs qui ont des pouvoirs (guérisseurs, prémonition, force physique supérieure…) le Monde Supérieur avec lequel ils sont en communication, et où se trouve le binôme de chacun. Il faut remplacer le chasseur dont l’esprit est parti dans un autre univers … Jusqu’à présent les chasseurs étaient choisis chez des personnes dans le coma, à qui la vie était rendue, avec leurs dons en plus, à condition de s’engager dans la chasse aux démons…Cette fois le choix porte sur un adolescent, lycéen qui a perdu ses parents 10 ans plus tôt dans un accident de la route d’où il est sorti avec une jambe très abîmée… Il accepte en échange de la promesse de revoir ses parents…

Ce que j’en ai pensé :

Là ce n’est que le commencement, les péripéties s’enchaînent, le démon devient de plus en plus puissant, il entasse les âmes de ceux qu’il tue… Viennent s’y greffer les intrigues de corruption politique habituelles, les pourris et les démons faisant bon ménage !
Bon, raconté comme ça, ça doit paraître fumeux et pas terrible ! Eh bien non, en fait, les choses se mettent en place, les forces terrestres et surnaturelles s’ajoutent pour le bien mais aussi pour le mal !

Ce que j’ai particulièrement aimé de ce drama c’est son ton de bande dessinée, de manga : le drama a conservé le ton du comic, enfin, je le suppose, je ne l’ai pas vu, mais c’est bien dans l’esprit d’une BD : les méchants sont odieusement épouvantables les gentils sont chaleureux, gentils, parmi eux règne l’amitié, un sens aigu de la justice et de la protection des plus faibles. Mais ce qui pourrait être du manichéisme est en fait l’écriture presque naïve d’une histoire faite pour distraire, j’ai vraiment l’impression que le webcomic d’origine a été écrit par un ado de l’âge du héros !
Malgré les combats (réalistes, sanglants, c’est OCN, ne l’oublions pas ! ) l’ambiance est chaleureuse, on voit se créer les liens d’amitié entre les chasseurs qui deviennent à la fois grand frère, sœur, mère du jeune ado ,qui pendant ce temps gagne en force et en pouvoir jusqu’à devenir le fer de lance du groupe… J’ai été frappée par les gestes de tendresse, d’amitié des aînés envers le jeune, gestes concrets nombreux et pas si courants que ça !
Les acteurs se sont donnés à fond dans l’histoire, ils y ont mis ce qu’il fallait pour faire passer tout ce truc fantastico-politoco-policier, qu’on y accroche et qu’on ne le lâche plus ! Le dernier épisode est un peu plus rose bonbon, mais c’est normal, c’est le genre d’histoire qui ne peut finir que bien, malgré les deuils et les chagrins qu’il a fallu affronter tout du long !
Les dialogues sont très bons, très vrais, et justes, avec l’émotion, la colère, l’humour qu’il faut quand il faut. Il faut donner une mention spéciale aux acteurs qui sont les chasseurs, Yum Hye Ran, remarquable actrice déjà npotée, qui maîtrise parfaitement le personnage de figure maternelle du groupe, Kim Se Jong, qui devrait pourvoir avoir d’autres rôles, elle a un vrai talent naturel, Yu Jung Sang, parfait dans le flic amnésique, dévoué à son rôle de chasseur et dans son amitié protectrice envers le jeune Joe Byung Gyu qui se tire remarquablement du rôle du héros, souvent fade par rapport aux seconds rôles aux caractères plus marqués qui l’entourent.
Et je n’arrêterai pas avant de mentionner Ahn Suk Hwan, l’inévitable ! Je sors d’un drama où il est pour entrer dans un autre et qui je retrouve ? Ahn Suk Hwan ! Ici dans un rôle fantaisiste, avec un look incroyable, mais cette homme est un caméléon !!! Il s’adapte parfaitement à tout, il peut être un vrai salaud (dans certains sageuks) ou un type super sympa, ou un arriviste arrogant et odieux… Je me demande s’il a le temps de dormir et manger entre tous ses rôles !
Bref, j’ai beaucoup aimé ce drama, son ambiance de fraîcheur naïve (malgré tout le bazar démoniaque) et la victoire donnée à l’amitié, l’affection, la tendresse et l’amour sur le côté obscur de la Force !
