Healing and growth

"Don’t use mental health as an excuse, own up your mistakes, make up for it, and don’t do it again.” Pearl really is a gem.London and Gav met in the most adorable way. Cai actually having a coming out story was a breath of fresh air. All the characters are realistic and human. Terrence... I hope he takes Pearl's words to heart. I feel for him and I'm glad he's trying. The happy end of this episode was wholesome and pure and made my heart smile. It's one of those episodes that you could watch again and again when you need reassurance, and also one of those that you wish you could see again for the first time."You don't apologize for being who you are.... You are safe with us." Oh yeah, I think I would have cried if I had been watching without anyone else in the room.

Raw emotions all over the place

A lot of people can relate with what Cairo went through. A lot of people died during this pandemic. And that episode is reminding us to stay safe, protect our love ones, and to cherish our family.

My fave episode

In this episode, the series once again proves its substance and relevance. In this particular episode and in more or less 20-minute the series encapsulated certain and relevant topics of social reality. These are: being who you really are unapologetically, acceptance of once self; acceptance of one family; mental disorder; the value of the family; forgiveness; the meaning of friendship; and the limitations brought by the pandemic.

Sad but Freeing

This is an emotional episode but at the same time it is very relieving. Sometimes we have to cry to release all the stress that we have and this episode gave us that. The acting of Elijah is phenomenal in this episode, and I like that Gavreel acted as a support for Cairo to resolve all his issues. The sweet gesture was what made all the crying worth it.

ROLLERCOASTER RIDE

This episode is probably one of the most important ones for it touches topics that are relevant and current, relevant, and ongoing. The producers and directors, the writer did a job well done in this one. And it is true that it is a rollercoaster ride--- with an up and down, happy and sobbing, I've done all over the place. I love it. It's liberating.

A roller coaster ride of emotions

This was a very tiring episode, but one that had a social conscience along with it. The ability to shoehorn complex topics into a captivating story is shown through the production's deft hand. Truly a high point of the series so far.

Rollercoaster of Emotions (Probably the best episode yet!)

t was a rollercoaster of emotions. I really have to admire the writer of gameboys, Ash. He wrote every episodes so well. The show started as cute and happy and then it got deeper. Can i also say that i love how he wrote Pearl. Because a lot of BLs potray women as toxic and the villain. They are always the homewrecker. And i just love how they steered away from that BL trope. Pearl is such a queen.

Episode 8 tackled a lot of real life issues here, like people outing you, like how cai was not able to say goodbye to his dad and have a proper funeral because his dad has to be cremated right away, the coming out scene,. Me being part of the LGBTQ+ community, related so much on this episode. It really hit me hard. I was crying a lot. And then......

THAT ENDING THO. THE ENDING KILLED ME.

This is by far the best episode

I said that ep 7 is the best ep of this series. But ep 8 really blew it! The way this ep tackled so issues in a span of 27 mins many without rushing the plot is really amazing. I am so lost for words. The way this ep talked about mental health, dealing with grief, coming into terms with your sexuality, and the impact of the pandemic so sensibly and delicately while also giving us some light happy moments in between just to let breathe. Idk. Man. the best Filipino BL right now. IMO.

Gameboys (2020) Episode 8: No Matter What

I hate what Episode 8: No Matter What did to me. It had me crying almost the entire time (all 27.12 minutes!) while watching it. But still, this is my favorite episode. I love this episode. I'm so confused. Lol. In a lot of ways, this episode resolved most of the issues tackled in this series. It showed the difficulties and heartaches brought about by the pandemic as well as the incompetence of the government, the resiliency of the people, and the brave heroes in these trying times. It also addressed the predicaments of being outed when obviously you're not ready to come out yet. The importance of having the support of one's family (and friends) was also highlighted in this episode. I love Cai's brother, mother, and father (and Gav and Pearl as well)! All these were made possible because of the compact narrative, amazing editing, and clear direction done in this episode. The OST "Hiling" sang by Joshua Ronett was a perfect fit for this episode. All the characters (including Terrence!) were also made multi-dimensional in this episode. Acting by all the actors was great. I actually ran out of superlatives to describe Elijah's and Sue's acting. They were simply outstanding in this episode. Their scene together would have been my favorite if not for the last scene when finally after 8 episodes, Cai is now Gav's Baby! That last scene alone made all the crying worth it!
