What a promising start and what messed up family!
The father is such a hateful character; no wonder everyone wants him to die. He’s not even nice with his sons; no matter what, a father can’t badmouth his children’s mother like that “She messed up my house with her blood”, do you still consider yourself a father?
The three sons aren’t that perfect either; the big brother Mitsuru is a player and a rebel, Isao is the perfect son, a lawyer and someone who knows how to control his feelings and Ryo is the calm innocent son and a doctor to be. Every one of them hates his father for what he did to their mother (in case of Mitsuru, it’s his step-mother) because she obviously committed suicide because of the father.
Here it starts: the search of the murderer. Which one of his sons did it? Or is the butler or his son?

Now that's a first episode !! The creepy feel this drama has is perfect.

I could give it a 10 just because it featured one of my all time fav song "Paint it black" by Rolling Stones. But it wasn't only that. The sepia toned cinematography, classic literature based story and a solid cast all played for it's strength. If the story remain this well adapted, I can sense an epic on the making.

whoa that was good...the first ep lasted a little under 40 mins, but a lot is seen in it...its really really dark, the story, the brothers, the relationship between the kurosawas...the random appearances of crows, spooky dolls and murder scenes, the constant switching between the police questioning, flashbacks of their childhood and the family meeting, unusual music, faded out colors, its not just the story that pulls u in, its the entire editing and details that make it even darker and more enjoyable...its really unlike the dramas and movies ive seen, and i must say im in love with it so far...i really hope they keep it up, and that it gets even better as it progresses...
