gorgeous, i'm dazed
i've never seen a thai production anything quite like this. it's so good in so many ways, idk where to start. it's simply my favorite thai drama & one of the most favorite drama from any country at all.billkin & pp portrayed their characters so so well.. (tho it took me a rewatch to like billkin's acting better).
would love to watch pp again in some other drama.
um, currently i'm lost in oh-aew.
the first half of the series, i laughed a lot. the second half i cried. oh-aew is so beautiful, it was breaking my heart every time he got sad..
and, okay, it's official, music of any production can do inexplicable things to me kkkk.
i might come back and add more thoughts.
currently rewatching for the 4th time 😁
a must watch series. 10/10 for me. i'm just being critical and giving it a 9.5 for now.

Heart-wrenching
Word for the drama: Beautiful. This was beautiful. So raw. So natural.
The first thing I noticed is the OST. The Skyline? I immediately looked it up on Spotify and downloaded both Thai and Chinese version. Also, the title is beautiful. I always appreciate titles like these.
Second, the acting of the MC and ML were topnotch. It's so natural, as if it's real. At first, I got the same feeling of Your Name Engraved Herein. I really did not believe this was a series. I think it's not your mainstream BL series.
Third, it's realistic. Being confused in life, especially when entering college. It's the stage in life where all sorts of thoughts and emotions enter your mind.
This drama is one in a million. If you're expecting fluffy moments then this is not it. This is genuinely real-life experience.

Still A Masterpiece
I remember finding this series because I stumbled upon it whilst searching for dramas to watch. I went into it completely blind without knowing anything about the plot, and when it was over it became my favorite BL. 2 years later it’s still at the top of my list, even though a lot of good BLs have come out since then, so I decided to rate every section and explain my reasoning.Story (10/10): In my opinion, the story was beautiful. It’s the best friends to rivals to lovers cliche but it’s done in such an emotional way that it feels different to everything else i’ve seen. If you don’t get into the story, then it might appear as boring at times and some of the scenes might look like they don’t have meaning, but everything is connected and every small detail gives insight into the main character’s mindset. If you pay attention, you’ll realize that every scene matters and things you might not understand start to come together.
Acting/Cast (10/10): The acting is great. The main character (Teh) has many flaws and I feel like his confusion throughout the story is portrayed very well. The entire point of his character is that he’s not perfect, and he’s a realistic portrayal of someone who’s having a lot of doubts and experiencing things he’s never felt before. Even though we, the audience, might feel anger because of his actions, and some people even dislike him, you have to put yourself in his mindset and realize that the reason he’s such a complicated character is because of everything he’s going through. Oh aew, the second lead, was also perfectly casted and you feel all the emotions the actor portrays. PP is an amazing actor and nobody else could’ve done such a good job. Finally, the chemistry between both leads is still the best I have seen in any BL up to date.
Music (10/10): The music really set the mood in every scene. It made sad scenes feel even more emotional and evoked uneasiness in the more tense scenes. Basically, the series wouldn’t be the same without it.
Rewatch Value (10/10): I have rewatched this series multiple times and although it’ll never be the same as watching it for the first time, it still makes me emotional and cry at a few of the scenes.
Overall (10/10): Overall, I would say this show is a masterpiece. I find it difficulty to find any flaw with it. The characters, whether you like them or not, were made to be exactly how they seem and makes the whole story more realistic. The story, which i’ve seen some say is boring, is done very well in my opinion and is not boring at all if you understand the importance of every scene.

Beautifully intense
I found out that this drama exists because of a list of enemies-to-lovers BL recommendations, and went to dig up the episodes out of curiosity despite not being a huge fan of the trope.Turns out, this is a beautiful coming of age story. The acting is perfect and the OST never felt out of place; if anything, it made every scene better. The camera work was also quite interesting to see, making the whole series a delight for the eyes.
I gave it a low rewatch value for two reasons: the first one is that the pacing of the story is quite slow, which means that while it might make every emotion more intense and tangible along the way, it can also get very frustrating if you already know what comes next. The second reason is more personal: there's a lot of pain and tears in this story, and while conflict is necessary for an interesting plot, it's not my cup of tea, so I might be hesitant to pick this series up again in the future unless I forgot what happens in the story.
Overall, I strongly recommend watching this series. It raises the bar for all the BL dramas out there, and I hope that it will motivate the industry to put more effort and artistry in their BL works in the future.

Really Interesting!
I have mixed feelings towards this drama.First, I love how short it was. The director was able to explain every aspect of it in just 5 episodes. I don't feel like there are nay gaps that need to be filled.
Second, I love how the main leads were able to express their emotions. These are young high school kids with so much passion and exploring love and feelings for the first time. In between they made so many mistakes but eventually there was a happy ending.
It's interesting to see Teh was not sure what he was feeling but he knew he wanted to spend as much time as possible with Oh-aew and got really jealous when he would hang out with his friends without him. And the fact that he always leaned on tutoring as a way to spend time with him is sooo cute. I just wish he would have been given more room to explain what he was feeling and why he was rejecting his feelings towards Oh-aew. (I mean, the society and our thinking sometimes really everything up!)
Oh-aew would have been more understanding as well and not be quick to label what they were. (My opinion)
I feel bad for Bas. He's genuine but eventually it would not have worked out.
Teh's brother, on the other hand, Hoon, is an angel sent from above. In such cases, where you develop feelings for the same gender, you need someone from your family supporting you. Even if it's one person, that's enough.

ITSAY IS BEYOND A BL
Where do I start? I Told Sunset About You is beyond a BL in the aspect that it lacked the usual BL elements but still managed to show the audience the narrative of the LGBTQ+ Community in a non-sensationalized way. I believe this is the top Boys Love series ever done so far. From the writing, the directing, and the acting. Basically, the overall cinematography is perfection. The OST is so beautiful too, like the best among BLs. BKPP's chemistry is undeniable, they are so natural. I'm obsessed with the actors too. Billkin is like the most talented BL actor out there. He can do everything. And PP is a CEO in real life. Myghad everything about ITSAY is PERFECTION.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
Masterpiece
For a second, I forgot I was watching a show and not a big-screen movie. I won't deny, at first, I was hesitant to start this series because it takes place in high school, and I don't really like watching high school dramas. However, once I started 'I Told Sunset About You,' I was blown away. The acting was hands down spectacular, the storyline and characters were so real and flawed, the scenery was beautiful, and I really loved the music. The characters are seniors in high school, but the main focus of the drama is them preparing, studying, and working hard to get into college, which drives the entire plot. This show can be quite slow, but I surprisingly really enjoyed it and found it moved at just the right pace. 'I Told Sunset About You' is not just a BL series. It's so much more. It's about family, friendship, first love, sexuality, and finding yourself. I'm genuinely interested to see the direction and obstacles the characters will face in the second season.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
A whole new level
I won't exaggerate when I say that this is THE Best BL I have ever seen. It sets a whole new level for other Bls to reach. I already watched this a long time back but re-watching again and its just as good as the first time I watched it. The story, the acting, the ost and the cinematography were just PERFECT. Most of the time, I wouldn't praise a BL this much and would always point out the flaws but no, this had none. It was perfection at its finest. The Story-This series tells the story about two individuals who were separated because of jealousy and grudge, and as they rekindle their friendship, they realized that they wanted to be something more. Teh, is a boy who is new to this kind of feeling, get confused but in his struggle of trying to not disappoint anyone he loses the one he loves. Oh-aewis someone who has very low self esteem and doesn't have any interest of his own. Teh helps him overcome these challenges and makes him more confident in himself but they develop feelings for each other as well. This story was shown in the most beautiful way possible. I love how there is no misunderstanding and the characters understand each other very well. I also loved that there wasn't a need to keep sound effects in this series, like most of the Bls do. Acting- The acting was so well done. Bilkin and PP did their characters justice and portrayed their emotions beautiful. It amazes me that they are actually singers as well. The music- the OST slaps harder than my mom's belt. Bilkin and PP's voices are so beautiful and they sing very beautiful. The songs and the meanings in them matched the situation they were in so well. Re-watch value- I can re-watch this hundred times and still won't be bored of it. Cause this is series is literally perfection. No matter, how many times I watch this it gives me the same feeling that I felt when I watched it the first time. This series literally set a standard for other bls. PERFECT PERFECT PREFECT.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
Elite series...the most elite
one of the best Bl's I have seen and trust me I have watched plenty to know what I am writing and recommending aboutWe have a proverb in Swahili that goes like “kizuri chajiuza, kibaya chajitembeza” which loosely translates to “a good thing sells itself, and a bad thing advertises itself”.
Somehow, this applies here in this series.
In short, it was phenomenal. That’s it.

A review as a love letter
ITSAY bewitched me. From the very start I'd say the quality surprised me. The shots were stunning and I really wanna go to Phuket one day so that added to my amusement. But 3 things really pulled my heart strings:1. Oh-Aew.
I guess it was when PP's Oh Aew appeared that my eyes widened. I loved him and his puppy face from the moment he popped up till the end. Like, what a beautiful soul Oh is, I wish someone would tell him that everyday.
2. Oh + Teh.
Second to my boy comes the subtlety and sensibility in the scenes between Oh and Teh. The silences, the stares, their touch, their body dance, in my mind many times they were dancing like magnetic forces drawn to each other. Their chemistry is alucinating.
3. Intention.
Last but probably the most important, the intention in every scene thanks to the production and director. Kudos.
I guess it was with the coconut that Teh hated that I started to ask myself, why are they using this, like, focusing on this? But then Oh is taking a bath and I realize. Nothing is unintentional in ITSAY! Mouths half open close, the angles, the amazing soudtrack, the eyebrows, them side by side, their actions, the study materials (Teh cutting his books, giving Oh his materials, the flashcards), the hungry hands close over the chest, the red bra, the kiss hidden underwater, the red hibiscus, the hammock and the chinese words - rival, secret, love, the sunset palette, so many things!! Everything is there for our delight and as important elements of the story. And also, there were many constructed parallels between the leads, T is blue and Oh is red, red x purple hibiscus, hands stopping at the chest x the red bra, young Oh asking if he should have given up the part x Teh actually giving up his position at uni, smart x dumb, accepted son x criticized son, confidence x lack of self-teem, rivals x lovers, the food in their names, egoism x altruism, all bottled up together and crashing beautifully.
Where else do you see that? You don't. This is pure magic, it brings me to tears. I caught myself reminiscing about my first love, my school years, missing my friends and feeling every pain they felt. That is what a masterpiece does. When you disagree or hate a character you feel the after taste in your mouth, the salty tears and when you love a character their happiness brightens your mood. My review is a love letter to the team and these actors, PP my baby. I'm now a fan, I hope we are blessed with their long life and many works. Together they were perfect, just like Oh and Teh, imperfectly perfect. ❤
ps.The sountrack is the cherry on top and their videos on yt, there's so much love.
