Not that great, but not bad either

I started watching Season 1 in April 2021. After finishing all 8 episodes of Season 1, I immediately turned on to Season 2.

Season 2 brings us to see how some of our characters have matured, particularly Jojo and Hye-Yeong who eventually became a couple. However, Sun-oh still remained the immature, demanding and possessive guy (although, yes, I could understand his frustrations throughout these years, not knowing why Jojo suddenly broke up with him with no strong reason). We even get to see Gok-Du who has matured enough, even when facing Gulmi.

It was also interesting to see changes in how each of them viewed love. Sun-Oh seemed to really take Love alarm seriously in Season 1 (which explains why he wanted to know so much about Jojo's love for him), but in Season 2 he insisted that Jojo was in love with him just by looking at her (this was never said in nice, romantic way. Sun-oh still had those temper tantrums and showing how possessive and self-centered he was). On the other hand, Jojo and Hye-Yeong who didn't care much about the application, were now so much into it in Season 2.

The ending on season 2 was more bearable and realistic to me compared to other Korean dramas. There was no fairy-tale happy ending showing wedding of our protagonists.

I liked the soundtrack songs in this drama (most of them were in English). I'd like to google and listen to them again.

An underwhelming sequel to a phenomenal predecessor

Love Alarm 2, how should I remember thee?

The execution was okay, the actors were great, but this season felt like a whole different drama. Had this not been introduced as a sequel to THE phenomenal Love Alarm (2019), I would have not set my expectation high, only to be let down big time.

Could it be because the director changed? Perhaps so.
This new guy/girl really had a different take and interpretation of the story from the previous director. Even the filming style, cinematography, and scoring that we really loved during the previous season (which were even considered the catalyst to the success of it), was not followed through properly here.

This sequel just felt so underwhelming in a lot of ways.

Now, regarding the script. I understand that the main author of the webtoon already decided the endgame, but making or watching it in live-action just wasn’t convincing enough. Not even to me who understands Jojo’s plight and the choices she’s made thus far. Here, her relationship with Hyeyoung just felt too contrived and Sunoh was deliberately written to be more rude and emotionally challenged than he was 5 years before. If this was the writer’s intention then he/she nailed it, at the expense of good storytelling.

Moreover, I just wish there’s more depth to Jojo’s love story with Hyeyoung as I honestly enjoyed their quiet and little bubble. Maybe the sudden introduction of them as a couple who is already together for quite some time, has started the disconnect of the audience from the story. In the first season, we were still at the part where Jojo is starting to consider Hyeyoung’s feelings towards her. We’re still AT THE BEGINNING PHASE, and yet here, the two have been clearly together for quite a while which possibly threw most of the audience off. Not everyone is as ecstatic to join the “very sudden” boat as nothing has been laid down yet for people to understand how it all reached such point.

Nonetheless, this is still a pretty enjoyable end to the great Love Alarm story. However, I still definitely prefer the first season more in terms of filming technique. That was really a very good high school drama worth remembering for the great scenes it gifted the drama-land.

"Love Alarm Season 2," a South Korean Drama that falls under the genres of Romance, Youth, and Drama, has generated a significant amount of negative reviews since its release. As a viewer, I found the premise of the Love Alarm app, which notifies users when someone with romantic feelings is within a 10-meter radius, intriguing and unique, setting the stage for potential emotional rollercoasters.

The series continues to explore the complexities of love and relationships, focusing on the love triangle between the main characters, Jojo, Sun-oh, and Hye-yeong. The character development is a mixed bag, as some characters show growth and depth, while others feel stagnant or underdeveloped.

One of the main issues highlighted by viewers is the lack of substantial progression in the storyline, with some episodes feeling repetitive and slow-paced. This stagnation takes away from the potential emotional impact of the series, leaving viewers unsatisfied and wanting more from the plot.

Furthermore, the writing in "Love Alarm Season 2" has been criticized for its predictability and reliance on clichés, making it feel formulaic at times. While the romance and drama elements are central to the show, the lack of fresh and inventive storytelling leaves viewers feeling disappointed.

Despite its flaws, the series does manage to maintain its visually appealing cinematography and soundtrack, capturing the essence of youthful romance and emotions effectively. The chemistry between the lead actors remains commendable, adding a layer of authenticity to their relationships.

However, the love triangle dynamic becomes increasingly frustrating for some viewers, with the characters' decisions and actions often feeling inconsistent and illogical. This inconsistency dampens the emotional impact of pivotal moments and prevents the series from reaching its full potential.

In conclusion, "Love Alarm Season 2" presents a captivating concept with a unique premise and strong performances from the cast. Yet, it falls short in its execution, suffering from a lack of substantial plot development, predictability, and inconsistent character arcs. The series may appeal to die-hard fans of the romance and youth drama genres, but it may not live up to the expectations of those seeking a more nuanced and compelling narrative.

LOVE ALARM 2

I am not at all satisfied with this drama . I waited so much to watch LOVE ALARM 2 but after watching this i don't feel happy. I literally cried after seeing how JOJO didn't even considered SunOH feeling. It's good to do want you want but she should have at least considered how SunOH felt. He was ready to leave everything for her but she never cared . Still i am crying by thinking how hard it must be for him. Love triangle is actully a bad thing
This really hurt me , although it's just a drama but it really hurt.

Yeah, acceptable

Because it's not a romance-comedy drama, the nuance/atmosphere is so eerie. Don't expect comedy, stop hoping you'll be laughing. Ngl, I don't like romance without comedy. I'm sorry So Hyun-ah T_T

Pros:
- Kim So Hyun
- Romance that "not that cringe"
- Consistent in picking a love partner(?) in this season. Acceptable plot.

Cons:
- No comedy that makes the drama so eerie
- Slow-paced drama. Too many dramatic-slow-motion scenes.
- Main-lead-centered drama. It could be a good drama if support roles have their story too. I demand Yukjoo more!
- Too much crying
- There are plots that need to be explained, but we got nothing a.k.a plot holes.
