First of all this drama is completely for adolescentsThe story was ok but nothing new at all in it
It had an important message behind
You should accept yourself the way you are away from others opinions
The bullying was annoying in Korea really and dangerous
The romance was nice
The plot wasn't wow
As usual they should connect the main leads together in their childhood
And I don't know how they remembered eachother
I used to forget people in my same year lol
The main song was really nice, I loved it
The characters were good except
Si mi and the Fl's father he was so irresponssible and stupid
I dislike the outfit of in youp with all these earrings
His character was really nice in the drama which I hated the most for the second ML because he is going to be rejected 😭
I felt great when the FL slapped (si mi) the bullying girl a lot
I wanted to enter the screen and share the FL slapping her... LOL 😂😂
Of course tears and drama should take a place towards the end
I didn't get what eun woo did
I hated when one of the partners take a decision by himself thinking this was the good decision for all
I saw that selfish and cowrdness
He left her for two years, know nothing about her,
in the other hand in youp took care of her every day
Really this is not fair
She should ended up with him
The other side stories were nice
In general this drama was just OKAY to watch once

Endearing but cliche
For the most part, this was definitely a fun watch. But though it has high production value, everything from the female lead's personality, to the horrible turn of the second female lead, to all the plot tropes that were used, just made it feel like an oldie drama, It was just all the tropes that were already on my list of pet peeves that I just did not want to see again and was hoping this drama would veer away from. It didn't.Overall, the production value and visual effects of this drama were really a pleasure to watch, and like many other viewers, the second male lead stole the show for me. Honestly, I might've been a little more lenient for this review if it weren't for the last two episodes, which really pulled a time jump cliche and leaned fully into the love triangle, making the actual plot arcs feel irrelevant. I'm not a huge fan of character development happening off-camera in general, but it felt like I was watching a completely different drama. Those closing episodes very much snuffed out any momentum I feel like the drama had going for it.

However, the last two episodes ruined the entire thing for me. They were evidently extremely rushed and the entire premise was extremely predictable because you realise that not once has Jugyeong felt any sort of attraction towards Seojun in the entire show and this just makes it obvious that Suho is endgame so, unlike the webtoon, there isn't much suspense about who she will end up with. The last two episodes were so rushed because why did Suho have to leave at the end of episode 14, leaving only 2 episodes for the possibility of jugyeong and seojun which was unlikely. If anything, it would've been best for Suho's father to get sick and Suho having to leave a bit after Jugyeong healing after her bare face got revealed to the school.
Also, they did Seojun so wrong. The writers essentially made him a side character like why add him in the opening and introduce him as an important main character if he's only going to get like 20 minutes of screen time in an entire 70-80 minute episode? the way he carried the entire show but only ever got hurt or left out. It's like they just added him in scenes when it was convenient for the plot rather than treating him like a fully fleshed-out character. The irony is that he has a more developed and so much more interesting character than both Suho and Jugyeong combined despite only being on screen for 1/6th of the time they were. I realised this wouldn't be the same as the webtoon and I was fine with that because I found it refreshing but it frustrated me when they did decide to use scenes from the webtoon but decided to give Seojun's scenes to Suho???? just to fuel their whole Suho is endgame plot line.
Also, the way they wrote Jugyeong's character was absolutely awful in my honest opinion. Tolerable at first but as the episodes progressed, she seemed so one dimensional. The only things that could be in her mind at any one point were her bare face/makeup and Suho. Similar case with Suho. She rarely ever said thank you and/or appreciated her friends (including seojun) for all that they did for her. No one said she had to like Seojun back but never once did she truly treat him like a good friend despite the fact that they were meant to be best friends. He just existed for her to vent her problems about her relationship with Suho. Seojun was always there for her when she needed but she was never there for him. Even after the car accident, not once did this girl bother to ask her "friend" how he was because apparently hiding her bare face from a boy she has no feelings for is more important than his wellbeing. Even after she came back with her face on, everytime she visited she couldn't bother to ask him how he is. She never once cared about his feelings at all and because of the time skip happening with two episodes left, we never knew what happened in between those because apparently, it's illegal for Seojun to have any moment alone with Jugyeong without Suho coincidentally being there like 🧍🏻
The ending of this show was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The writers had the audacity to say "happy ending" like no, wtf no this is not. This is only a happy ending for Team Suho which is fine but Seojun deserves justice and happiness too. I am glad that Seojun and Jugyeong never got together because he deserved way better but the fact that they left such a crucial scene of him being rejected to the very last minute meant that Seojun got no time to recover from his emotions and heartbreak. This is what I meant about how sloppy and rushed the last two episodes were. If this happened in any earlier on episode, maybe, Seojun could've gotten a happier ending because he would've already been in the process of healing but nope. No happiness for Seojun at all. Every other single character got shown to have a happy ending, even the irrelevant to plot side characters. All of them at the wedding, having a fun time but no Seojun? I understand he was preparing for his debut but if the writing wasn't so rushed, it would not have been that way. I don't care if Seojun didn't get Jugyeong but he didn't even get a happy ending? Everyone else ended the show with a smile to their faces but Seojun was the only one with a melancholic ending with tears running down his face. awful. They thought that by showing him debut, it would mean a happy ending?? No, because his feelings were still there and he was clearly so broken and pretending to be okay.
In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend if you are strongly team seojun because they do him so wrong

GO AND WATCH IT NOW!!!!!!!!
as a k-drama fan, I always knew about this very popular k -drama true beauty. I watched only a couple of reels and that was the exact moment when fell in love with hwang-in yeop .. and I knew because he was the second lead, his heart was sure to be broken. that is the reason why i never dared to start this.. but it was day before yesterday that i started this, and fell for hwang in yeop in every possible moment........... apart from my obsession, the storyline is epic. I was really annoyed by the one year gap which was given in the last few episodes.. the kiss of han seo joon and lim ju kyung was one of he favorite part and also when she was drunk......... but i really liked the fact that though, han seo joon didn't knew about lim ju's secret, he still loved her and even Su-ho, both them loved her unconditionaly. the unrequited love of han seo joon was the brightest highlight of the k drama.... all over i really liked the story. it worth your every secondQuesta recensione ti è stata utile?
Wow
So I loved this whole story from the beginning to the middle and to the end the male lead was beautiful but the second male lead was also beautiful I was torn to be honest female lead I fell in love with her along the way and I can watch the whole series over and over again please watch this you won’t regret it made me laugh made me cry and made me squeal a lot! What I really liked about this was that all the characters were pretty interesting and you were engaged the whole time including the families and what happened in the background I just didn’t enjoy the end where the familiar Korean Throop Avenue let’s break Up to make Up again that is in a spoiler that happens all the time! But still one of the best series I’ve seen

This drama was amazing!
Firstly, I would like to comment on the fact that they kept true to the webtoon and despite the minor changes in the story, the drama really captured the essence of the webtoon and we got to see our favourite characters come to life. The casting of the indivdual characters was done to the 't'
I'm not saying this because I'm a fan of Astro and Eunwoo, but as a lover of both webtoons and dramas. Eunwoo really did so well when he played Suho and I feel like he was the perfect match for Lee Suho.
Hwang Inyeop!
He's a splitting image of Seojun and I can't get enough of him. He acted so well, you would think that he was the real Seojun that was brought to life. He was everything that Seojun was and I can proudly say after having read the webtoon and watch the drama that I am Team Seojun.
And finally, our main character, Lim Jugyeong.
Gayoung played her so well, she was funny, sassy and a whole queen that out Jugyeong is. I really felt so connected to Jugyeong and I related to her on so many levels. Gayoung just made me feel so Jugyeong more.
The story of True Beauty isn't just a romance drama for entertainment. It highlights important things that happen to a lot of people. Judging people because of how they look has become a bad habit that society had adpoted. There are also mentions of bullying, peer pressure and even self-harm. This story touches on these subjects in an understandable way and makes the readers/watchers think.
I hope that after watching this drama, people would be more considerate to the people around them.
Overall, this drama was fantastic and is definetly worth the watch.

Not Like the Webtoon but somewhat better
I know a common complaint is that in this drama they’ve added things that weren’t originally in the webtoon but honestly these things gave some of the characters more depth that they previously lacked in the webtoon, especially Suho’s character (which I actually wasn’t a fan of in the webtoon but absolutely love in the drama). In the webtoon the female lead is always hiding bare face, even after she graduates high school she's still paranoid and hiding her bare face from people, so its a nice change of character in the drama that they make her gradually more confident both with and without makeup to the point where she's even stranding up to her oppressors. The webtoon wasn't complete when they filmed this and the author did come up with different character endings from the webtoon. But the story of an insecure girl that goes through some sort of beauty transformation has been told many times before and it’s nothing new as is the typical love triangle but if you enjoy those traits then True Beauty will be very fun and entertaining to watch.

not the best HS drama but i can definitely say, the best HS COMEDY drama- so far
**slight spoiler for the webtoon and drama**I've read the webtoon even before the drama is released (but i dropped it once "that" couple break up) and I felt a lot more emotions reading the webtoon than watching the drama. I was only watching it for the comedy and my overall review is only because of the comedic value.
I've seen a lot of better dramas, so most of the scenes between ML and FL are hard for me to watch (to the point I can even predict what the ML will say next) My fingers are wringling and I have to cover my eyes and even skip scenes between them like come on director and writer, it wasn't that cringe in the webtoon. Well probably because it wasn't moving xD
Also, I saw a lot of people really hated soojin in the drama but I can't quite relate to that maybe because Soojin character in the webtoon is much worst and pathetic than that, because in the end the drama version, at least soojin apologized.
THE BEST CASTS LINE UP EVER. Their chemistry with each other is great too. But then the whole storyline of the drama, it isn't the worst but it's not that good either; typical HS drama? yes. And typical love line between ML, FL, 2nd ML and 2nd FL? definitely yes. It isn't worth your time so I would definitely recommend it to put it at the bottom line of your watch-list, set your priority. Or you can also put it at top of your list because you probably will skip scenes a lot if you can't stand being cringe.
OST - *chef's kiss*
Rewatch value, my rating tells it all.

Very cheeeeesy
True Beauty started off feeling very cheesy and full of clichés. My biggest question is, what about this girl is ugly exactly? She wears glasses and has a few pimples - literally me and so many other girls in the world! The whole premise of this drama seemed dumb and not intriguing - nevertheless I persisted. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised as it was just easy to watch and the second male lead - WOW. I was living for him throughout this drama. He made it worth watching.I liked the bromance that formed/reformed between the guys. So many funny scenes that actually made me LOL. The backstory of the two boys gave the show some depth and added some seriousness to it.
To begin with, like in the first episode, I did not Like Ju Gyeong's character. She just seemed very shallow, but to be fair she was constantly bullied. Like I said, I just didn't like the premise.
My favourite scene would have to be the one where all three of them are in the elevator and the boys are fighting over Ju Gyeong and then they get stuck. She shakes them off telling them to let go of her - we are thinking she's just annoyed with their bickering, but it turns out that she really needs to pee. As soon as they prise open those elevator doors she is out of there. The way she lunged out of that small gap made me really LOL.
The relationship that formed between Ju Gyeong's sister and her teacher was sweet and funny. It was ridiculous when they had their wedding and she got her head stuck in the table frame.
I would maybe consider watching this one again, simply because it was so light and easy to watch.

Hilarious and weirdly relatable
Most people probably think this plot is very silly and unrealistic, but for some of us it is pretty real.I have very bad skin and for years I wouldn’t even go to the grocery store without a full face of make-up. I look very different with make-up on and I have actually had people laugh at me, when they saw my bare face for the first time. So my point is, Ju Gyeong’s story might be more relatable to viewers than you think.
Up until episode 13, I might have given this a score of 9. I loved everything about it: I screamed laughing several times, I loved both Cha Eun Woo and Hwang In Yeop, I could relate to Ju Gyeong and I adored her sister’s side plot.
But then the drama fell victim to the „too many episodes“ curse. I do not know the webtoon, so I can only review the plot of the drama, which would’ve found the perfect ending at the end of episode 13. I seriously thought that was the end of the drama cause the ending scene was perfect. But then I realized that there are three more episodes. Which is why I paused the drama at that point and only forced myself to watch those last three episodes many weeks later. They ended up not being as bad as expected - but still, some unnecessary added drama.
However, I definitely still recommend watching this. It is absolutely hilarious. Seriously, I laughed so loudly, I’m pretty sure you could hear me down the whole street.

Comfort Kdrama
Okay to be fair, I am a bit biased towards this kdrama since I followed it before the episodes aired AND I read the Webtoon version as well. BUT! The show does bring out a beautiful story about self love and self image and how loving yourself before loving anyone else should always be your priority. I'd call this kdrama a feel good kdrama because really everything goes well for the main character in the end (Which aheemmm it might be a little unrealistic but she did go through a lot of shit so she deserves it!!) But also another thing i'm so mad about is how poorly they treated seojun in here. As an avid TB Webtoon reader, seojun and jukyung were each others first everything and that got practically erased in the show. I got really mad and was very disappointed when their first kiss never happened! Not even jukyung reciprocrating his feelings!? Thats just low...But I digress! Its a good show to watch when you're feeling low but do beware the second lead syndrome will hit HARD.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
