Designated Survivor: 60 Days (2019)

Il ne sembalait pas fait pour ça, et pourtant...

Je dois dire de suite que si vous n’aimez que la romance, passez votre chemin, mais comme ce serait dommage pour vous !!

Drama très addictif, car ce pauvre président Park va d’abord s’adapter, essayer de comprendre la mécanique politique puis affronter crise sur crise tout n’essayant de ne pas laisser déclencher la 3ème guerre mondiale, et ceci en 60 jours ! Je dois dire que la durée n’a pas toujours été simple à gérer pour le réalisateur, on avait un peu de mal à comprendre qu’en fait il ne venait de se passer qu’une journée ! Heureusement que le numéro du jour s’affiche au début de chaque épisode ! C’est pour dire que l’action est dense ainsi que la mise en place de nombreux personnages qui, même s’ils ne sont pas tous principaux, doivent tous être bien campés, réalistes, et ne pas seulement être de la « figuration intelligente » ! Et c’est le cas ici.

Il y a deux fils conducteurs essentiels : chercher et trouver le cerveau de l’attentat avant la date fatidique des 60 jours qui sera l’élection du nouveau président, et savoir si le Président par intérim va se présenter ou pas.
Au début il ne rêve que de retrouver son bureau de professeur, puis, peu à peu, je ne dirais pas qu’il y prend goût, mais qu’il comprend l’importance fondamentale de son poste et il se met à croire pouvoir être utile.
La vie de la Maison Bleue est la toile de fond de ces intrigues, et cela m’a fortement rappelé une série que j’idolâtre : « A la maison Blanche », « West wing » titre original. Du coup je suis allée chercher un peu et « Designated survivor » est le remake coréen d'une série américaine du même titre. Mais si les Coréens ont très bien assimilés la technique américaine de la série haletante, ici nous sommes bien toujours en Corée, avec sa propre personnalité, ses propres traditions (voire la discussion sur la loi contre la discrimination). J’ai vu le remake coréen de « Life on Mars » et c’était excellent, la version (très bonne) anglaise était très respectée mais c’était pourtant une série 100% coréenne. Pour « Designated survivor… » je n’ai pas vu la version américaine.
Outre un scénario très bien construit et de très bons dialogues, la psychologie des personnages est très bien traitée, on échappe au stupide manichéisme où on est partagé entre les Méchants et les Gentils, sans nuances. Là ce n’est pas la cas, l’organisateur du complot sait parfaitement se servir des jalousies, des rancunes ou des chagrins pour recruter ses soutiens, et par moment on ne peut s’empêcher de comprendre comment le « traître » l’est devenu… Mais y a-t-il un seul cerveau ? Et quand on croit avoir décapité le complot, un léger détail, une réplique de 2 secondes laisse entendre que ce n’est peut-être pas le cas…
le président Parker se présentera-t-il ? On n’aura pas jusqu’au bout la réponse à la question et c’est très bien, car le drama est un tout, les 60 jours de l’intérim ! S’il se présente, eh bien c’est une autre histoire, celle-ci est finie, complète, avec son début de catastrophe et sa fin de mission menée à bien.
les acteurs sont tous parfaits, avec une mention spéciale bien sûr à Ji Jin Hee (président Park) qui réussit de main de maître à camper cet homme que rien ne préparait à ce poste mais qui, doté d’un solide sens du devoir soutenu par un esprit scientifique, réussit à inspirer le respect et à se sortir de situations épineuses sans y perdre son âme. Il est encadré par un beau casting, Son Sun Ku, le secrétaire général, Heo Jun Ho, qui pourrait être un mentor, Kang Han Na et Park Hoon,les agents du NIS et particulièrement Lee Joon Hyuk, le député indépendant Oh, le « miraculé » qui interprète avec justesse et finesse un personnage sombre mais qu’on ne peut pas détester.
Il y a aussi de beaux rôles de femmes, la cheffe de l’opposition, Bae Jong Hoc et l’agent du NIS Kang Han Na…

Je conseille fortement ce drama, jamais décevant, jamais ennuyeux malgré toute la mécanique politique constamment décortiquée, sans chute d’attention au milieu ni flashbacks inutiles, avec de belles scènes d’émotion, et surtout une fin juste, solide et concluante, ce qui pour une fin est la moindres choses .

PLEASE GIVE THIS DRAMA AN OPPORTUNITY

This drama is amazing, period. I’ve been watching dramas for 10 years but it’s been such a long time since I felt so many emotions watching a drama and I believe it is the first time in 5 years that I watched a drama without doing fast forward because I was afraid to miss a good dialogue!!!! I will give you different reasons to watch this drama
-THE ACTING IS AMAZING (well just look at the cast)
-The writing is really good (I have to say I screamed and clapped while watching this) and so it is the ost and cinematography
- every character is smart and even the smallest character brings something to the story ( I love how the women here were so intelligent)
-There are not wasted dialogues or scenes and if you don’t see spoilers you don’t know until the end who is the bad guy (because it keeps surprising you)
- I loved how awkward was the romance and the comedy here hahaha because you know this drama is actually really serious (and yes I love my couple in this drama ;; )

Sigh… there are so many reasons why you should watch this drama… so please let’s try to raise the popularity of designated survivor
I give it 10/10

Crazy from start to finish

This has been on my watch list for quite some time, but hey, better late than never. For the most part, this drama is really good.

What makes it good?
It's not an eyeroll drama about politics. It has suspense, mystery, and action. Park Mujin's character development from beginning to end was amazing to watch. The complexity of each character's goal, whether they have good or bad morals, really adds onto their motives. The acting is truly believable, astounding, impeccable, what more can I say? The cinematography is gorgeous, I love the different aspects to how the scenes were shot/set up.

What makes it bad?
The plotholes. There are parts to the story that have some loose ends. There's also parts that don't feel as impactful as they should be. The pacing becomes slow in the middle-ish. Nothing was really progressing until it got near the end.

Though the premise of this drama may leave people with mixed feelings, I say give it a watch and see if you're up for it.

Will leave you with more to be desired.

Strong start that's guaranteed to keep you hooked but it doesn't remain consistent. Episodes 11 to 16 were too flawed, full of plot holes, illogical sequence of events, change of mood and pace. The quality as well took a dip compared to how polished it was in the earlier parts, it became too tame and lost the energy. Some plot lines/characters/situations were cartoonish and didn't fit the serious theme of the drama. I wish they showed more of his family and their dynamics, given their bizarre sudden situation. There were only given a couple of scenes at the beginning and another at the end.

The LGBTQ plot line felt off and out of place, it didn't even go anywhere. Some of the obstacles/challenges weren't interesting to follow, tackling real serious issues would have been better. The "villains" and their motives were a bit underwhelming, we were led for something greater with the build up we had. The antagonists might be its weakest point.

Anyway, great acting by the president, it's still a solid watch but will leaves you with more to be desired. 7.5/10

It makes you root for the protagonist

Such a roller coaster ride. Intrigued by the plot, watched without expectation and it blew my mind. I'm not a fan for such political drama but surprisingly I was pretty much engaged and couldn't help but to click next episode. The idea of having a resigned minister to be an interim president never crossed my mind. Ji Jinhee really done well in potraying a confused professor to a firm honest interim president. I can't help but to root for him. The staffs are also amazing and my favorite is Son Seokko as a passionate chief of secretary who wants the best for his country. That's why he pursued Park Mujin to run for the election. Shout out to Kang Hanna who potrays the NIS agent who persists until she gets to the bottom of the incident eveb after losing her fiance. Overall this drama is fun, thrilling and leave you wanting for more.

A Home Run

I was on the fence whether to watch this. In my heart is Ji Jin Hee as King Suk Jong in Dong Yi. His portrayal of such a honest and caring King was so profound to me I wasn’t sure I wanted to watch Ji Jin in a lesser role. I shouldn’t have worried one bit. Because here he plays the same kind of character…and is just as captivating.

There actually isn’t one actor/actress that doesn’t give a stunning performance. This series reminds me of one long ago called Lost, made in the U.S. No matter how hard you tried you couldn’t figure out who the protagonists are….its an endless maze…and this is what makes this series a real winner.

I became enthralled with learning about Korean politics. Not so much different than here in the U.S. The corrupt always seem to stay in power. What would it be like to actually have good, caring, honest rulers? Ones who put the people first instead of their own selfish pursuits of power. What a world we would have.

I would really like to see a Season 2. Knowing Netflix they probably won’t do another season. Seems everything I always really like is canceled after one season.

It's definatally one of the best political drama i ever watched or i can say for the BEST.

this drama really deserves respect in all the political drama for how much depath it has put into the show and it shows how I can not win a battle if you are right or an honest person. The world won't work the way you think it should be and the honesty won't make your design right.
It's the same negative point that most people noticed and don't like.
the way in episode 5 all of the people just want to leave or resign when they can't handle things however they want and the mc only think about how to fire all the government official [ not really for all but he always only fires everyone who won't obey what he wants].
but with episode 7 ending will change this as well now he knows how to win and how to make use of the information if a very well-written series you should watch it even though it looks like I don't want to recommend this in my upper reviews but it's a very interesting and good series that you should watch really.

Grounded and just thrillingly VERY good.

I was really excited to start Designated Survivor : 60 Days as its based on the exciting American one . ( BTW You do not have to watch the American one to watch this one.) I was also keenly looking forward to equally exciting Korean elements and I must say ,all my expectations were gloriously exceeded!

Everything was perfectly wound from the scenario , to the politics and the thrilling action, The story never failed to captivate and the build up was thoroughly conclusive and very grounded. The political machinations added to the thrill and actually did not bog down anything .I particularly loved the social commentary on the proposed laws as they touched on pertinent social issues and causes.Then the action was just a lovely decadent cherry on the top.

The directing was equally sublime and I loved the use of past and present scenes . The capture shots were very rich too and added a true elegance to the story line and overall production.

The cast was equally perfect too with all the leads wonderfully shining and adding artistic nuance were possible.

The music added great ambiance to all the set pieces.

Overall -an absolute home run of a drama that I thoroughly recommended . So much heart and such profound dialogue too that I am sorry it is finished .

NEED S2 PLS

Why don't many people talk about this drama? Is it maybe because the storyline is heavy and about politics? But you know this is a hidden gem drama!!! The story is about maybe you can say the daily life of people who work in the government, and I got to know how the process and what government people do.
Maybe for people unfamiliar with politics or who have never liked politics, this is a heavy plot.
But I really suggest this is a good story and makes you all suspicious of the cast and don't forget the mind-blowing plot twist that should be watched at least once in a lifetime!!! And you have nothing to regret, a little advice if you watch a drama that has never tried the genre is better to watch without any suspicion first thanks me latter
