They criticize the sexism, specially with "ageism" (status of a women being entirely based on how young and pretty she looks), the unfairness, the justice system, the corruption of the richests, the jealousy, the hatred and many other bad emotions. Basically they rewrite the term "don't judge a book by the cover" as a drama, and they remember us that ALL characters are ment to be like humans, and nobody is perfect. Nobody is a Saint, nor a complete sinner. But everything we do may affect our lives and the people around us.
The end just ruined it to me. They turned something great into a smaller and pitty situation when it could have been way bigger. I do understand their intentions, but they lost many better plot conclusions.
I do recomend watching, tho. Just... do not care about who the killer is or the reasons. The characters, acting, and side plots are worth it.
(PS: I would say Hye-ran seems a bit like "Korean version of Annalise". I felt like watching episodes from How To Get Away With Murder because of her personallity and actions in some scenes. Obviously, not totally the same, but their vibes and main strenghts/weaknesses are somehow similar)

The curse of humanity
Go Hyeran is a larger then life character. She has iron will, and unfathomable ambition. She's smart, confident, powerful. She never bends nor retreats, but when faced with adversity, with ruthless efficiency she pushes onward. She doesn't just hang from the rope, she climbs it.All of that to create a just society where truth prevails and wrongdoers are punished. This is a single goal she devoted her life to, due to a traumatic event in high school that set her on that noble, tho self destructive path.
Unfortunately, Go Hyeran is still human. For all her strength and passion, she is burdened by curse of humanity. That curse made her involuntarily develop feelings to two, arguably three men in her life. She knew it's a weakness, she didn't want this to happen. She knew it will cause her trouble, that people guided by feelings rather then rationality make mistakes and bring misery to their own lives and lives of others, but it still happened.
There are all kinda people in these show. Cowardly people, weak people, jealous people, petty people. As long as Hyeran opposes them, sees them as enemies, she can defeat them, even turn them into allies circumstance eventually. But developing feelings for someone weak and undeserving is nothing short of tragedy, and brings tragedy and pain to her life and life of others.
That tragedy is the main plot of Misty, a character focused melodrama with elements of thriller and mystery. The who dunnit and how dunnit isn't as important here as why dunnit. As various people's ambitions and feelings clash, sparks fly and turn into raging inferno that swallows everything and everyone.
This is not a story with a happy ending. Yet what a story it is. I can not not recommend it to anyone and everyone who still happens to suffer from having a semblance of heart, and wanting their heartstrings to be cruelly pulled over and over again.

Firstly, for me, it's not thrilling at all. I can predict what is gonna happen in most of the so-called thrilling scenes. They have a good story behind but it can be developed much better. There are still a lot of weak, illogical scenes and the supporting roles have very unclear personalities. Maybe if the drama is longer, they can develop the characters better and link the scenes better. Sometimes things change too quickly and therefore, unconvincing. However, I really like episodes 14 to 19, i think those episodes were well made. I agree with some people here that the ending wasn't very good. I dislike their choices at the end, it was just weak.
For acting, the reason i gave 7/10 is because of the supporting roles. The 2 main characters husband and wife were no doubt really good acting but the 2 supporting actors in the drama (both are the wife's ex-bfs) should really develop their acting skills.
In general, the drama was not bad but I am generally a hard rater so you might like it better than me :)

-STORY
To be honest, I actually just "liked" the story, it was a mystery story with a good amount of romance, at the same time.
Everything is so well written, that every episode is so enjoyable and nothing is messy.
-CAST
Kim Nam Joo brought us a strong and independent lead female.
All the cast was awesome, and all of them did an excellent acting.
So why did I give a 9? Because of some characters: The investigador started do be kind of annoying; Eun Joo was so blind because of revenge and from her point of view, everything was "unfair"; Myung Woo didn't show any feelings or emotions.
Also, age doesn't define beauty. Kim Nam Joo is 47 years old and she is so beautiful and sexy. Same with the male cast.
-OST
Yeah, the music was good...well placed....
- THE END [NO SPOILERS]
Since the beginning of the drama that I had guessed how the victim died, so I was not surprised when they discovered it, but while I was watching the final episode, I was disappointed about what was happening. But, in the very end I totally loved it. It was the kind of ending I love!
-OVERALL
Such a good, dark, mysterious, mature and romantic drama.
For me, the drama was really good, but I don't understand why this drama is so underrated...
If you are looking for some drama like this, I highly recommend "Mistress"

A woman who gives as good as she gets, so refreshing in kdramaland!
This drama is beautifully complex in that the beginning is straightforward but when it gets to the home stretch, things suddenly look a lot different than previously thought. It's a cinematic feast for the eyes, the production, the costumes, the set, the acting are all top notch. It's a wonderfully mature drama in that it offers no cookie cutter solutions, the characters are multi-dimensional and FLAWED, something which I really appreciated because it makes the story so human and realistic.
I enjoyed the way the show segues neatly from a murder investigation to an exposé of corruption in high places (although this exposé thread was not fully explored at the end, which was disappointing)
I enjoyed the depiction of the truth of life shrouded in uncertainty, the depiction of unpretentious love and the all important life lesson that the choices we make do have consequences.
This amazing drama was brought to life by the outstanding cast. Kim Nam Joo deserves a very special mention for her depiction of Ko Hye Ran, a woman who is unabashedly ambitious and determined to achieve her goals at the expense of everything even love and family, while still maintaining her professional integrity. ( In my opinion she's a character whose integrity is impeccable professionally but not in her personal life ) Her performance is powerful and she is stunning and impressive, a strong woman who makes her own rules and achieves her goals.
Ji Jin Hee as Kang Tae Wook is wonderfully nuanced and subtly resonant, an actor who can act with his eyes, his performance was consistently excellent.
Jeon Hye Jin as Seo Aun Joo is an interesting discovery for me, she is a very good actress and I'd love to see her in a leading role.
Ahn Nae Sang ahjussi deserves a mention here as well although I've only ever seen him in roles where his character is contrary, but he's an excellent veteran actor nonetheless.
The whole cast is superb and they all had great chemistry especially the News Nine team.
The ending of this drama raises some interesting conundrums, first of all there are a few dropped threads and unanswered questions and second I got the distinct feeling at the end that Show was telling me that powerful women destroy men; this contradicted and negated everything the drama had told me in the first fourteen episodes. This doesn't ruin the Show by any means, each viewer can draw their own conclusion.
The music is evocative and fantastic, I loved the violin pieces.
Overall 9.5 out of 10

I really liked the story and the overturning elements. It was really interesting to see how the ambition and the egoism of different people can interfere with the life of others. The only sad point was the ending, I actually did not understand the conclusion of the story. Everything was good till the last episode when the ending was presented. It was a little odd, because the some characters are keeping on not understanding others efforts. So I did not found really just how the ending was and how some characters were egoistically acting. Maybe because I do not like egoitsic acting and blaming of others. But anyway was an interesting drama and I would like to suggest many people to watch it.
To talk about the personages, I particularly liked the character of Go Hye Ran, so cool, and in the same way strong. Although all the hardships in her life she managed to keep living and going on. How we can consider it a successful life is to question because the variables that she could not control or keep track of had a big impact on her life. She wanted to keep on going, sometimes seeming as like she could do anything for success but in the backstage it was not the case.
About the casting I can say that it was a good choice to cast Kim Nam Joo and Ji Jin Hee. They were good on delivering the feelings, sorrownes, bitterness, and others to the viewers.
Thank you for such a project to all the production, the writers, and the cast.

Not a single positive message behind the story.
It’s an interesting drama just to kill time. There is not a single positive message behind the story. At the end of the day, who dose Go hye-ran love? Herself! But no one else! She is not strong but a selfish woman with an unhealthy mind. She has done everything for her own benefits. She is definitely not worth all the love and sacrifices. It’s also unrealistic that the two loving and sincere men’s lives as Kang tae-uk and Ha Myeong-u were ruined completely because of her. I feel so sorry for Kang tae-uk. He is too good and too blind in love to be true!Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
The series went downhill and got quite boring with the crime and court and political corruption storylines taking foreground in the middle part. It took me ages to finish this. But the last 3 episodes were again quite good.
Hye Ran was an ambivalent character, she never got treated justly, and still fought and concentrated on her values as a journalist. I was left thinking, that the series overall seemed to see it right for her to be punished for her career focus and ambition in a men ruled world. Anyway, the husband was quite a lame character in comparison.
How Kevin Lee and his wife both played disastrous mind games with people, out of their own petty grudges, could have been foregrounded more in comparison to the politics and media themes. But all in way, I'm glad I didn't drop this although my rating went from 8.5 during the first episodes to finish with 7.5.

It's also can't help with how the story is more The emphasis how and who is the murder, instead of dig deeper and add more complexity of the main lead character motivation make this drama is a bit lackluster for me.
Better luck next time!

then i saw that ending lmao. i'm so over this. when women are written as strong and crazy while their lives fall apart but they fail to deliver an engaging story arc and either redemption or consequences...i can't deal. it's impossible to be an unchanging force and have others bend for you when it literally makes no sense. seriously like was she made out of gold?
