Chicago Typewriter (2017)

Both shows have reincarnation theme. In chicago typewriter ml and fl were reincarnated and in tale of the nine tailed fl was reincarnated. In ct as well as in totnt characters get to discover what happened during their past life.

In both dramas the couple meet and fall in love after meeting again in another time period. Wonderful story, production, acting, and osts.

two different dimensions or different era. similar romance. mystery, humor and overall vibe is very similar. ( Chicago typewriter is less complicated than TKEM so if u dropped TKEM because of it complicated plot/story-line try Chicago typewriter)

Both issues are from the past. A lovers from the past that he need to protect even after several years.

Although the time periods are 20 years apart and the fact ones chinese and the other is korean. Also Chicago typewriter having a past lives genre. Personally i think these two dramas have similar vibes. That being both involve a war/rebellion genre.

Both male leads are writers who are fond of releasing consistent dark novels. Well, there's a story behind, but its story is interesting as characters' real personalities keep on developing. This is beyond a romcom drama! ^^

There's also a connection between Go Kyung Pyo and D.O. characters and the male leads that only them could experience.

Both shows are dramatic and thematically poignant. They both give a kind of nostalgic, dark vibe. Both are full of intrigue and beautifully shot. Both are script wise strong and have a cast that you'll love and both are super bromance heavy and I loved the humor in both.

Of course there's a huge difference in the plots, but i personally find them similar in the male protagonist aspect. They are both writers with arrogant personality and family issues. The dinamics in the main relationship seem to be very alike too.

In both shows...:
-We have two stories being told at the same time. One deals with the present, the other with their past lives.
-Two of the three main leads have been reincarnated, with the third lead having waited a long, long time to reunite with them.
-They both have a fantasy aspect to them.
-There's a love triangle in present throughout most of the show.
-There's a second female lead pining for one of the male characters.
-FL has memories of something that happened in her past life but she's unsure which of the two male leads does it relate to (slight mystery aspect).
-There's sweetness, comedy and a bit of tragedy to both.

In both, main leads are carrying their past life memories to make correct their present. Both drama shows strong bromance.

in Chicago Typewriter- Writers that lived under Japanese rule in the 1930's are reincarnated into a bestselling writer who is in a slump, a mysterious ghostwriter and an anti-fan of the bestselling writer, while in pulang araw for childhood friends navigate life during the japanese colonization in the philippines.
is similar in settings under the backdrop of japanese colonization in South Korea while Pulang araw is set in the philippines.
- Chicago Typewriter is a fantasy - time travel drama, while Pulang araw is a historical drama
- it highlights patriotism
- both has great attention to details - camera works and great acting too
- both has great osts too.

This might seem a bit wack, but bear with me.

Both CT and Healer seamlessly combine many genres (CT is more mystery/rom-com/supernatural with some historical/political while Healer is more action/thriller/mystery/rom-com with a bit of political). I think that's something a lot of dramas fail to do well and possibly by that alone you might be drawn to one or the other. Both have solid storylines and characters, though CT is better in terms of deeper meaning and has a lot of things to analyze in the backgrounds of each scene. The mystery/suspense element in both is pretty strong and hooks you pretty well. The romance in both is wholesome and solid, and great OSTs (especially CT's).

CT is criminally underrated and Healer might be (slightly) overrated (though it's def a bunch of good fun), and despite the two seeming completely different, I think viewers of one will probably like the other. Vibes, maybe? Don't think too much and just watch :)

-Chicago Typewriter is set in the 1930's and is a spy drama whereas Time Renegades is set in the 1980's and is about a serial murder case.
-The female lead is stronger in Chicago Typewriter whereas a damsel in distress/victim in Time Renegades
-Chicago Typewriter is more comedic than Time Renegades
Both the KDrama and film are very entertaining and a great double-feature!!
