An easy watch that leaves you with a fluffy feeling.
I'm surprised how many people scored this badly but everyone is entitled to their opinion.I've not read the source material but did watch the movie, which was not good. The drama is far superior.
This drama does follow some tropes but is overall good and clean. Whenever i just want to watch something that does not use too much brain power (other than reading subtitles) and will leave me feeling good, i rewatch Love O2O. I've rewatched atleast 4 times. And I don't even skip episodes! Also, i now have an appreciation for dramas with Yang Yang in them.

1st review!despite not the first drama i watched and definitely the most recent one..id like to give honor to LOVE O2O my first critique... before anything else..I have not heard or watched the movie (one smile is very alluring) nor read the novel in Wattpad...it was purely coincidental since i was browsing though YouTube what to watch since i was binge watching Asian dramas... and heaven sent me this wonderful series..at first i was confused what is happening..i didn't know that it is game related (yes i haven't read the synopsis either).. i just literally gambled watching this without prior notice to myself...haha anyway, i gambled..then i dint finish the first episode...i was bored watching it..but since i give second chances (even in love haha)...i then proceeded to watch the 2nd episode..then, there i was.. trying to understand whats happening despite the confusion.. haha the wedding happened..maybe it was me pissed off with the enchantress and that bitchy sidekick of hers that made me watch this series...then i was curious how they will meet in real life knowing that..ehem SPOILER ALERT.. ok ok..i wont say anything further! hahaha the point is...after that...i fell in love gradually.. then noticing i was getting further and further in the story and i cant stop watching! i have a sucker for not giving perfect score...meaning that is the best i can offer to something..hey, nobody's perfect right? hehe

It was okay...
This show is for young hip adults, which is fine... I enjoyed it... I like the leads --- well, i like the female lead only from the neck up... She looked like a 12-year old anorexic... I wish she didnt wear those shorts and short skirts, her legs were ghastly thin... I cringed each time i saw them... Erxi was so annoying i muted it when she talked... Bur overall, it was okay... No rewatch value...Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxcccccxxcxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxccccccccccccccvvvvvvvvvvvvvvcvcccccccvvvvvvvvvvvcvccvvvvvvvvvxxxxx

I saw the movie version first before this so I had some comparisons.
Firstly, Angelababy took her role as WeiWei very natural. It's like she owned it. ZS on the other hand doesn't feel right for the role. She's awkward to watch, tho she looked close to the age of Wei Wei, it's bothering to keep watching her. Often times, she is busy pouting all over the screen than to actually embodies Weiwei's natural charm. She is also awkward at kissing. Also, there's a big change in plots between the two versions, the Wei Wei and Xiao Nai in the movie gives off a real and natural feeling that they are indeed both hot bods and smart bods of their department/campus.
Secondly, I would prefer the movie's take on the gaming wardrobe of the characters especially of WW and XN. In the story, they are part of their server's leaderboard and are considered elite players. This descriptions can be easily distinguised by looking at their equipments and dresses unlike the drama version. I can say this coz I am a gamer too.
Thirdly, why I did not pretty much rave all over this drama is because the other supporting characters (especially KO-Mei couple and ErXi-CaoGuang couple) are more interesting to see on screen than the actual main leads.
Lastly, since the drama is longer than the movie, each episode seems dragging and boring to watch. If not because of the occassional gaming scenes, I would probably already dropped it. They are trying to slowly transition and progress in the story but sadly it is wasteful. The plot doesn't suggest a complex storyline nor rooms for intense twists. It is only a simple and straight flatline of story so getting it into a 30 episode is already a drag. (The main cast did not even help making it more comfy to watch, except YangYang is undeniably very charming but that is just it)
Probably if Angelababy was casted as WeiWei in the drama version, everything would be good or there's a significant change and uplift in the overall feels of the drama.

2. I love the fact that there are no DUMB misunderstandings, and that the leads trust each other in their relationship. There are some moments where I felt like the leads were both a little TOO perfect, but ultimately it was refreshing.
3. I don't believe in love at first sight which this is based on, but everything is so cute that I'll honestly let it slide JUST THIS ONCE.
4. I am not on the ship for that second pairing. ER XI DESERVES BETTER.
5. I've honestly never been any sort of a gamer, and I also am not too interested in any historical aspects, but I surprisingly enjoyed the video game parts.

Love O2O may be 30 episodes long, but I felt like I was watching a drama half that length. It was so good that it made me confused every time an episode ended, because how could it end already? Did I really just watch 40 minutes of a show? Are you sure?
It has this ability to make you so lost in what you are watching that you fail to notice the passage of time, and I can't even explain to you what makes it so. It was just so... lovely! It's the type of shows that make you happy and full of love.
A lot of this is because of our main characters, Wei Wei and Xiao Nai. These two are the most level headed couple I have ever had the pleasure of following in a drama. They don’t let others confuse them or shake their trust in one another. They don’t waver or hesitate. They are straight forward and open with one another and absolutely sweet with each other. The way they look at each other, especially when they tease!
It was wonderful watching these two become more comfortable around each other, especially Xiao Nai who is a really great guy but he is rigid and cold at the beginning. Through his relationship with Wei Wei he becomes more openly teasing and relaxed and his smiles become far more frequent (and when he smiles he is drop dead gorgeous lol)
These two have two core groups of friends around them, and their interactions with their friends are so satisfying. It felt like watching real friends. In a sense, this was the most natural and authentic representation in this show, and I loved every single one of them.
Another unpredictably captivating element in this show was their online life in the game. It was fun to watch and interesting to note how the online world mimicked the real one in a lot of ways.
Now, the bad guys. I admit, I sometimes wanted to slug them in the face (I mean, there is a limit to how much you can impose your twisted views of pretty girls and Wei Wei in particular on her and slander her character, and based on some strange logic that game and real life are the same) but they weren’t evil by any stretch of the imagination. Just human. I loved that this show did not try to make them evil incarnate, just bratty, or misguided, or selfish. But yes, I did think some of those plotlines stretched too long. We would see a scene of them, and then two episode without them and repeat, and I always had this feeling of “wait, we’re still there? Really? It hadn’t been resolved yet?”
Now, for the girls like me who love kisses and look forward to them in every drama:
Kissing: 5/10
Xiao Nai knows how to kiss. Wei Wei is either being told to stand there like a frozen fish or is uncomfortable with kisses. It got better as the show moved along (she at least moved to smiling as they kissed and holding on to him), but it was a bit cringey most of the time and unfortunate because with him there was the potential of some EPIC kisses to be had.

Could have been worst but it's not that good
Let me start with the casting. As always yang yang excels, but FML lacks emotions and expresivity. Also, the kiss scenes are... It doesn't matter how great it's Yang Yang at those when she's like a stick. It's awkward to see those scenes because it feels like either he's forcing her or she's like a plastic doll not reacting at all. Another thing that I didn't like was that FM seemed unhealthy skinny. I know that this is not related to her acting and probably it's just the way she is but I was more time concerned about her health that enjoying her acting.
SMF was funny and bubbly and the villains were as always in this type of Chinese dramas not that mean in the end.
The plot and story it's pretty simple and it became pretty boring like the ML and FL relationship. It's funny and interesting how they started but then it became just plain. There's not much development at all and it's just a story that could have been told in 10 eps instead of 30.
Music was okay, nothing worth mentioning.
In general, I think you can watch this and enjoy it if you like Yang Yang. Otherwise, there are much better options out there.

Only illogical part is people having so much trouble figuring out who the game players are in real life because the names provide so many clues. And the villain girls' motives don't really make sense to me; but it's a youth drama so you know, that can be forgiven.
The two leads... omg... chemistry was fuming hot. First time watching both of them act (actually, everyone; since I don't usually Mainland Chinese dramas), and oh my god I stan Yang Yang now. The character settings might be a bit cliche but I think the development of their love story was truly fulfilling.
If you're down for some cute fluff I highly recommend.

Underdeveloped Female Lead Character and Story. Overrated to me.
...................................................Let's start with 'why I choose to watch this?'
So, I chose to give it a try because of e-sport and romance as main theme, secondly for Yang Yang and thirdly it is quite popular.
I hadn't seen any work of the Main Lead actress before, so this was the first one. And to be honest, I'm very disappointed in the actress and dissatisfied with the makers.
ML is okay, but in my opinion this character doesn't suit Yang Yang, maybe because of the storyline. I have seen a few works of him, most of them are amazing, but this one 'a big no'.
...................................................
Now come to the plot and characters:
...................................................
The setting is in University. FL (Bai Wei Wei) is a student in CS engineering as well as ML (Xiao Nai), but ML is senior to her.
So Xiao Nai is quite popular in college and Wei Wei is among few girls who study CS and believes 'if boys can be smart in this field then why girls can't be'. So she chose to study CS and is quite a good student & intelligent and wants to prove herself.
She plays online games and met Xiao Nai through this game, but didn't know that this person is actually her senior. They made a team in the game and get success in their almost every mission as Xiao Nai is one of the best players in the game as well as Wei Wei. They both started to fall for each other. Xiao Nai discovered her identity first and asked her out, while she didn't know how exactly is Xiao Nai looks like in person, yet. They met, and she found out that the online partner she fell for is actually the senior she admired. Their real life relationship starts from here.
I admit, it was a good relationship as their was no misunderstandings, they trust and respect each other fully. But, it feels lacking in terms of chemistry. The expressions of main lead actress seems off sometimes.
There is little to no character development in the whole drama.
Xiao Nai started his own company but Wei Wei, she's just there to be a helping lady rather than, actually working and making contribution to prove that 'girls can be as smart as boys in software development'. What's her goal? Where are her efforts? She's just being stuck in romance and doing nothing else. And her friends, they are so annoying and just waste of screentime.
...................................................
At last, Xiao Nai's company get success in their project and his dream comes true, but what about Female Lead.
I don't understand why even was she in drama? Did she do something for herself? Did she do something for Xiao Nai? Did she do anything for anyone to make any change in their life? She did Nothing. Her character is so underdeveloped.
The only thing I like in this drama is that Xiao Nai and Wei Wei's relationship is good and appreciable. That's solely the reason I'm giving it this much rating, otherwise it's just waste of time, despite being highly rated and popular, to me.
...................................................
I would not recommend this to the ones who want to watch a good plot and developed characters.

Most unrealistic romance
The romantic development of this drama was close to nonexistent, and probably the only reason why Love O2O didn’t get too low of a rating from me is because I actually found myself kind of enjoying the drama in a “it’s so bad it’s good” kind of way. Just let me complain for a little bit, though. The actor playing Xiao Nai was really stiff most of the time. Though the excuse can be made that “it’s just his character,” it still doesn’t justify his utter lack of expression the entire drama. He’s just not a good actor. Frankly, I noticed that lack of acting skill seems to be pretty prevalent in Chinese dramas especially. There’s many problems with Xiao Nai’s character, as well. He seems to completely lack any flaw and is your typical Mary Sue character. It’s boring. Additionally, I found a problem with him declaring Weiwei his girlfriend and then his fiancee ALL without her consent. Pardon, sir, is this not the 20th century? This shit isn’t gonna fly with me. Now on to Bei Weiwei… sigh. I am gonna be honest. I wanted to punch her in the face for the entire duration of the drama. Though the actress seems to at least have a better grasp on acting, Miss Bei Weiwei herself was a completely infuriating character. I won’t go into detail, but her hopeless pranks on Nai and her absolutely ridiculous questions made me face palm many a time. At the beginning, she was also acting very dramatic about her initial interactions with Xiao Nai. Can we also discuss how the entire drama’s plot seems to revolve around random university kids always trying to ruin Weiwei’s reputation and constant misunderstandings? Yeah, it got reeeaally old after the first five times it was used as a plot device. I know I just went off on a major tangent, but overall this drama was pretty decent as far as entertainment value goes. Frankly, I quite enjoyed the video gaming and the video game development aspect of the show. It is what drew me to it in the first place. With that said, I still spent most of my time making fun of the show rather than genuinely enjoying it. Honestly, just go watch Go Go Squid. It’s similar enough to the premise of this drama, and, though it has its own share of problems (see my Go Go Squid review <3) the characters at least have some dimension and personality.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?

One of my Favorite Dramas
Its cute to say the least. Its a realistic series with youthfulness, first loves, shyness, and all around sweet getting to pursue your dreams. The fantasy side, is somewhat of a romantic gamer's dream. Characters fighting evil together, typical bad guys, and the supporting friends that stick beside you.
There are a few corny scenes lol during the fantasy but nothing worth skipping scenes.
It's the fantasy of most romantics to have someone pursue you and always be there when you need them and to never hurt you.
Supporting roles, the roomate & business partners, those guys were awesome lol they kept me laughing.
Female supports, were cute and silly besties with the FL. One of them did get on my nerves lol but that goes to show, how well she played her part. Ha.
3 best scenes in my opinion
☆ when ML goes to FL class
☆ when ML sits in stands
☆ when FL is hurting emotionally and ML reaction is heartwarming and gets an A+ for telling her everything she needed to hear, and meaning it ❤️
There is a cute bromance, too! 😍
ENJOY!
