Although these two kdramas are completely different in both plot and time period, I would recommend this if you are looking for a drama with a male lead similar to Yong/Tak Goo. I found that the male leads are somewhat alike in terms of both their personalities and goals; they are both looking to get revenge for the murder (/kidnapping) of one of their parents and go down difficult paths in hopes of achieving it. They also share a more light-hearted/humorous side to them. However, while Iljimae grows more serious as the series progresses, in King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo the male lead loses some of his resolve around half way through the drama and starts to focus more on his baking .

Seung Hee, after losing his girlfriend in a tragic accident, left for 3 years. When he came back, he sought to make a film in a rural area. Someone caught his eye - Bok Shil, who looks exactly like his deceased girlfriend, Hye Soo. Seung Hee followed Bok Shil in order to get some answers and ended up falling for her.
Still the questions remain, is he attracted to Bok Shil because of the memories of his ex-girlfriend, or does he like Bok Shil for who she is? What happens when competitors come into the picture and families opposing their love?

Allthough otherwise very different plots, both feature the touching story of (literaly) poor underdogs, their struggles and their warm relationships.

Both include romances but the romance in Rak Ork Akard is much more in focus, meanwhile Iljimae doesn't focus much on it/develop it much.

Watch both if you enjoy rooting for underdogs and enjoy warm relationships between many people not just the OTP/aka. great side characters.

- Plot is different but gives the same vibes
- Double Life ML/FL
- Both dramas are in Joseon Era
- Daytime they lead a normal life but at night they save people who needs help
- only difference is that Iljimae is like Robin Hood were he steals from corrupt people

Basically the same premise, but the two focus on different aspects of it. Some liked Iljimae more, some like Guai Xia Yi Zhi Mei (Vigilantes) more--Though, if you're interested in the plot they have in common, maybe both are for you! :)

It's the same story being retold over and over again and yet we're still interested.

Although both focus on the classic trope of star-crossed love, they explore it in slightly different perspectives. Iljimae is a journey of developing one's identity whereas 100 Days My Prince is about finding the identity and happiness that have been lost.

Ultimately, it is still the settings of the historical periods and grace of the plot that really draw the 2 dramas close.

Masked men with a secret identity who are looking for answers about things from the past......................

Both are centered around a legendary masked heroic thief, who fights the rich and helps the poor. They are driven by revenge and a distinct sense of justice. They also have exceptionally good fighting skills. Also both involve an interesting father/son relationship as well as romance (Rebel has better romance than Iljimae imo).

However, I'd dare to say that Iljimae is a lighter watch than Rebel. Latter is more complex and involves more characters.

They are both excellent dramas, with touching characters and forbidden love. You have the same male lead, and the story il also about someone who's ready to do what it takes to avenge his family. Fate is also a big part of both dramas.

It has the same plot. The Korean version of Robin Hoon, "Il-Ji-Mae" deals with a hero who helped the unprotected poor men by robbing the rich and the powerful ones.

I know the dramas are kinda random, but if you came to see Iljimae to see Kim Yoo Jung in her child actress days, then I definitely recommend you at least see her scenes in Grudge the Revolt of Gumiho. It's her first lead role in TV. If you see her romancing Yeo Jin Goo (her lover in Moon Embracing the Sun) in Iljimae, definitely check out Gumiho Fox Child for her romance with Lee Tae Ri (formely known as Lee Min Ho born 1993, he's another lover of Kim Yoo Jung in Moon Embracing the Sun).
In both dramas though, Kim Yoo Jung plays a good kind hearted girl. There are also a few scenes in both dramas that are quite similar. In Iljimae, Kim Yoo Jung enjoys the company of a bird while in Gumiho Fox Child Kim Yoo Jung enjoys following mostly fireflies and sometimes butterflies. Another scene is where Kim Yoo Jung is helping one of the young male characters heal their wounds. And another one is where Kim Yoo Jung's adult version Han Hyo Joo is enjoying the lanterns while being watched by one of her love interests in Iljimae is similar to Kim Yoo Jung in Gumiho Fox Child where she was also watching the lanterns while her male love interest looks at her so lovingly.

Both dramas have both the main male leads as brothers but both characters don't know that they are brothers. Both the father and mentor of the main character for both dramas was played by the same actors. Finally, both dramas are about avenging the death of a father, but also becoming the true king that the people of Joseon deserve.

A remake of this drama. Both Lee Jun Ki and Jung Il Woo portrayed their roles perfectly and they both are very hot <3

Both share a FL running an inn/boarding house, a ML who lost his father which causes him to hide his identity, & a family secret.
